I do believe that everyone has the right to feel like themselves, and find a place where they truly feel comfortable. In today’s society however, I do believe that we as people have been more accepting and supportive towards these folks. We still do have a few who will never accept these people, and still look at them a certain kind of way. For me, every individual should be able to feel like they belong in social groups, and activities. Nobody should have to fight within themselves, or feel like they’re in “prison”. I can’t sit here and say that I know how it feels to be a parent and have my child come out to tell me that they’re transgender, gay, bisexual, etc. but I can only imagine how hard it is. I’m not saying that I support Charlize parents, but I can understand that it wasn’t easy for them to take in the fact that they’re son is Trans female. So it only makes sense that they reacted the way that they did. In her article, she says “you see success on TV and you see rich people suddenly making a change, but for the rest of us, most of us, we’re sitting in a dark room with no hope, waiting for someone to help us or something to take us away.” That sentence for some reason rally touched me, because it’s true that these celebrities, rich people, etc. usually can do a certain thing and still be looked upon for role model, or motivation, someone who is still perfect in their eyes. Yet, when it comes to normal people, a lot of people have negative opinions, and are always so quick to say something. A lot of us don’t actually think before we talk. We never really know what the person is going through, or why they did what they did. Everyone has a story to tell. Plus, who would want to live in a society where they felt like everyone was against them. The process is always hard, especially when you have to undergo all the surgeries and get the money to have these procedures done, but eventually you find a way to
