I knew that I would probably go to college some where in state, come back to our little town and work as a nurse or in an office like my mom or nana. My computer teacher had us go on a website and answer a couple of questions to see what my range of my possibilities is, and of course one of the first ones was a nurse and human resources. Then I started looking deeper into the possibilities I had. The two I found most interesting were Epidemiology and Sociology. Both sounded very intriguing and in both professions I would be able to help people. I started to look at epidemiology, I noticed that if I would work really hard at it I would be able to work at the CDC (Center for Disease Control). It looked very interesting and the job outlook is very high. So my chances of getting a job is very likely. But as I looked for jobs at the CDC there was next to nothing. I still decided to do the presentation on it though. The presentation was very fun but presenting was a little scary. As the year progressed though I learned that in order for me to be able to become an epidemiologist I would have to enter an internship for at least a year then work my way up from a small college lab to the CDC. I would not end up in my dream work space until I am about thirty five to forty years old. So I started looking into sociology, and became very…
After Graduate School, I hope to have my PhD in psychology or my doctorate in psychiatry. I would like to start out working in jails, talking to criminals and analyzing their brains versus the brain of an average adult to study how the brain reacts with criminal activity and why they do and feel what they do. I have heard that a person can not do that type of work for very long because it is emotionally tasking so after that, I would like to open my own counseling practice up. I would do either marriage and family therapy or focus on teenage depression. Eventually, I would like to retire into school psychology or become a psychology teacher. Also, if I ever have enough money, I will buy a house devoted to taking in stray animals…

Part of me feels that I am to old to get my degree, but I have decided that I can do this, I can get my degree and now it's about me succeeding educationally. After graduating from high school I didn’t think about going to college, all I wanted to do was work, hang out with friends and play video games. So at the age of 17, I started working for my uncle at his liquor store for about a year. Throughout that time I attained a great amount of skills; ever where from management to customer service skills. With that being said, I thought about expanding; maybe getting a job elsewhere that will pay me a higher salary for the skills that I have. I applied to Liz Claiborne Inc. in North Bergen, NJ at the age of 18 and got hired as a product coordinator. I was so excited; I was only 18 and about to start making a salary nearly equivalent to that of a college graduate. At this point I thought to myself; “wow! I don’t need to go to college to make money”. I continued working for Liz Claiborne but after three years noticed what I had as a career wasn’t what really interested me, nor something that I wanted for the rest of my life. I was really just doing it for the money. Then, that’s when I realized in order to obtain a career that I always dreamt of, that college was something that I needed to accomplish. I started researching and asking myself questions like “why am I going to college? What am I going to get out of it?” then came up with answers, “if I don’t go to college I most likely won’t have a career of my choice”. If I graduate from college I will have an opportunity of living the American dream; a beautiful family, an enormous house, and nice…

There comes a time in a person’s life when they need to start thinking about their future. Of course, kids tend to think about their futures from an early age. We’ve all wanted to be princesses and ninjas, pirates and fairies, superheroes and singers. But there’s a time to start thinking about your future reality-wise. In the modern era, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to obtain a job without an education past that at the high school level. While college is set up as a luxury, it’s evolving into a necessity. College is something I definitely see for myself in the future although not for the same reason. Personally, I would like to be able to learn about what I want to do and learn how to do it to the best of my ability. Going to college…

“A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.”- Colin Powell. Everyday of my life, I followed this lesson in life and it will continue to run through my blood forever. After receiving my degree, I hope to have my own business and on the side apply to a company like, Apple and pursue my engineering skills in the field that I’m assigned too.
