The best resources specifically for the reading difficulty would be online games that make reading fun and interactive. Reader Rabbit is a good example of one of these games. It would also be a good idea to gauge his interests and to get him lower level books about things he’s interested in. Reading needs to be a fun activity for him, and he needs to want to read more to learn about things he’s interested in. I could also show him how reading has helped several groups of people to be successful. This would be great in motivating him to read more in the future. I will assure him that the light will come on if he keeps looking for success, and will promise to do everything in my power to improve his reading skills. I could also point out times of embarrassment among successful people, and how they dealt with it in their future. I could use the setback to motivate him and make him hungrier to perform well academically. I will also explain to him that his classmates don’t understand the kind of setbacks he may have had in his past that may have held him at this reading level, and that he can always improve as a reader. This could also help motivate the rest of the class in anything they’re trying to accomplish. In private, I will tell him that I’m his biggest advocate, and that we can set up certain times to work on his skills, or he can talk to me by e-mail or on the phone so I can give him good advice, and help him work on his skills. I could very easily set up some time during school hours to help him. I could also ensure those are at a time and in a place that won’t embarrass him in front of his classmates. I would also explain to the class that they need to respect people more when they have troubles, and that nobody is great at everything they do. I will tell the class that they need to be supportive of each other, and that supporting each other will only benefit them as individuals. It is not beneficial
