I also had challenges looking for trustworthy sources. Most sources I came across ended in “.com”, such as https://kids.nationalgeographic.com, but eventually I found trustworthy sources that ended in either “.edu” or “.gov”. In due course, I came across these obstacles and was able to obtain trustworthy and useful information. Next, I looked up information on the Woman’s Suffrage movement and what role Anthony played in it. To start my research, I found three articles on Google that described Anthony’s life in full detail. I visited the websites and carefully picked which information to include. The Women’s Activist articles helped me to fully understand what women in the 19th century went through, and why Anthony was so passionate about equal rights for women. The article “Susan B. Anthony” by Nancy Hayward informed me about Anthony’s life and beliefs. It also explained the struggles she faced as a woman fighting for equality. I knew that women were looked down upon and did not have the same rights as men. After reading numerous articles and texts, I now know that there is so much more than that. Women fought endlessly for decades to gain simple rights, such as the right to vote. I knew slavery and women’s suffrage were a big issue, but I never really paid attention to it until now, and this essay taught me how big the issue of slavery and women’s suffrage was in the 19th century. This essay provided me with a deeper understanding of what women had to face and the society that Americans used to live in. However, it also taught me that even in such a dark time in United States history, there were still people, such as Susan B. Anthony, who fought for what they believed in. They dedicated their whole lives to the women’s suffrage movement, gaining equality, and ending slavery. This inspires me and shows me to not be afraid to stand for what I believe in.
