What Role Did Margaret Thatcher Play In Ending The Cold War
Margaret Thatcher was born in Grantham, United Kingdom on October 13, 1925. She was Britain's Conservative Party leader and in 1979 she became Prime Minister. Margaret was the first woman to hold that position. When she became prime minister, she was very focused on reforming Britain's economy. Thatcher played a major role in ending the Cold War.
Thatcher’s relationship with Ronald Reagan was very important because they both played a role in ending the Cold War. She gave him European support for his determined stance against the USSR threat. She cut social welfare programs, reduced trade union power and privatized certain industries. The prime minister believed that building the West’s military advantage was the answer to containing the Soviet
