Between 1901 and 1914 many immigrants from Italy, Russia, and the Austro-Hungarian Empire came to the United States., mostly for economic opportunities. Immigrants came seeking for employment and the wish of becoming rich. Many settled in New York City and were able to find jobs. It was difficult for the immigrants to adjust to United States but United States also had a hard time taking in the immigrants as well. The immigrants decided to move to United States with the thought of Freedom in their minds. They expected equal rights and doing anything as they wanted. Even though the immigrant’s received better pay in United States than their own country they were still struggling with low pay and had to work for long hours with extremely dangerous
