Men were considered superior as they were able to vote and become anything they want while women couldn’t. Women had very little power and were often disregarded in society.(O.I.) Furthermore, women didn’t have rights to own property thus, men were at the top of households. Men and women were unequal since men received much more rights. While women had domestic jobs, men had a wide variety of job that they could do. In addition, many discriminated women as they had to work just as hard as men but, received less pay just because of their gender. As a result, women had to fight for civil rights such as equally and the right to vote. Susan B. Anthony said, that the Federal Constitution states, “We, the people of the United States” thus, including women and not only men. The people, not just white or male but rather, the “whole people” who formed the union. This liberty should be secured not to just “half of the people but, the whole people.”(Doc 8) As stated in the Constitution, all people including men and women should have the same rights and the government’s job is to protect the people rights, not only men. Women shouldn’t be discriminated upon just because of their gender or who they are. They should all have the opportunity to vote and be present within the government. The country shouldn’t only be made up of men, but also women. They shouldn’t be denied of their rights which is unfair.
