What Were The Events That Leappened World War I?
What were the events that brought World War I? World War I is considered as one of the biggest war in the world. World War I started at July 28 1914, and ended at November 11 1918. During these 4 years of war, more than 9 million soldiers and 7 million citizens were killed. The war was caused by several different conflicts beforehand, such as colonial rivalry, nationalism, militarism, and alliances. But, the immediate event that triggered World War I was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in June 28 1914. First Moroccan Crisis 1905 – Germany declared their support towards Morocco, which was invaded by France. By 1917, the Russian army was exhausted and the Russian revolution will overthrow the czar. Russia signs an armsrace with the central powers and exits the war. The Russian czar since 1894 was Nicolas II. In 1917 he was forced to step down his throne because of revolts and breakouts in Petrograd. In 1915 Italy enters the war with France and Britain. In 1917 the Italian army had to retreat for more than 100 kilometers after losing the battle of Caporetto against Austrian and German troops. The Anglo-French launch the Nivelle offensive but are defeated by the German troops. The French troops desert after the Nivelle’s offensive, because when Nivelle replaced General Joffre as the commander off the French army, he planned a new offensive but it was a complete failure. The French Troops were mown down by German machinery. The French lost 200,000 men and there was no breakthrough. Then, the USA enters the war after the Zimmerman telegraph is intercepted by the British. The USA was supplying Britain with raw materials and weapons, thus made the Germans angry. In the telegraph they asked Mexico to attack the USA. One of the figures that take impact on the political effects of World War I is Vladmir Lenin. He was one of the leading political figures and revolutionary thinkers of the 20th century, who masterminded the Bolshevik take over of power in Russia 1917, and was the architect and first head of the USSR.
