You were born alone, so you will die alone. It doesn’t matter if you are the most famous person in the world, once you die, the people are going to forget about you, but what they will always remember is what you did while you were alive. Another theme I got from the poem is that life is short, so do whatever you want to do because one day you won’t be able to do the things that you wanted to do when you were alive, because i mean you’re dead. So enjoy life while you are alive, because it can end in one second. He most likely wanted the person he loved to read his poem, because he was not married, but he had a crush on someone, who didn’t have a crush on him because he wasn’t as wealthy as she was.
