There is several things that I would have to say I have had to use to make sure that I have continued on the course of action in spite of obstacles and that I have had to use to maintain my focus. Just to name a couple of obstacles that I have had to overcome being injured while I was in the United States Army, dealing with the everyday pain from those injuries, making the decision to go back to school and get my degree, maintaining a grade point average of better than a 3.0 and that is just a couple the list could go on and on. When i got injured I knew that my army career and life was over but I didn’t let this stop me from doing everything that I could I had to dig down deep within me and say I may walk with a cane for the rest of my life but I am not going to stop me. The pain that I have been dealing with and will continue to deal with for the better part of my life is a constant uphill battle but, one thing that I use to overcome this is I tell myself when it gets so bad I cant even get out of bed the pain is there to tell me and show me that I am still alive and that my children need me. Something difficult I have gone through that changed me. Although, in the beginning it was extremely difficult to cope, I believe this experience changed me for the better. It has shaped me into the person I am today. Being the oldest of three in a broken family has forced me to become a role model, and taught me to take on large responsibilities. I learned how to use my independence for the better of my siblings. I learned how to cope with difficult people, I learned how to put on a happy face, I learned how to leave my family life at home. I learned how to be happy with my friends and at school. I learned how to smile through the day, ultimately being content with my life. I gained the strength to look at the pros and not the cons. This unfortunate situation has caused me to become a more positive person. If I could give one piece of advice to…

If it wasn't for my family, which always told me to keep on going and never stop, I would had never gotten this far. The support also plays a big roll, because I have family and friends that look up to me and I don't want to let them down or myself down. If it wasn't for myself and God I don't know where I would be. I wouldn't have made it to where I am today if I didn't have the courage and the support. How I got to where I am today is by staying focus in school, and believing in myself that I can make it to where I want to be. Another is also being in alternative school, not knowing what I just walked into, which made me wanted to be a counselor and help those that are struggling with behavior problems or needing that person to talk to and listen to. what had got me where I am today is patients, love, and support from family, also being around positive people and staying true to yourself and…
