I couldn’t imagine the weight on her shoulders, she was walking her in when it happened. She told me how she felt it was her fault and how she saw it all happen, the car... the hit. I didn’t even see it and I felt that bad, imagine how she felt. After her crying for so long I chimed in as well. Have you ever heard of the story “ Where the Red Fern Grows”(SPOILER ALERT!!!!!) well, I was thinking of when the first dog passes and the second one wouldn’t do anything until the first dog was there again. Plus with having only two dogs and that idea in my head I had a breakdown, I started balling at the idea of that happening to my other dog. After a few days I started to feel better, but it was the day, every day that, personally, every pet owner doesn’t look forward to, the burying of the pet. I stood by and watched everything trying to think happy thoughts, but none came. Right before they buried her I went over and laid down next to her one last time petting her white, soft fur looking into her eyes... no longer darting around looking for squirrels, her paws… no longer running around with her brother, and her ears… no longer bouncing in the wind, as they told me it was time.
