Do you know what a hero is? A hero to me is someone who has courage to stand up against things and that risks his own life for something small. They are also outstanding achievements. “Y’all were heroes from the beginning.” (Hinton,107) I believe that someone in the book “The Outsiders” named Johnny is a hero. He is because he saved Ponyboy, he saved all the kids from the church that caught on fire, and he gave Dally something to live for.…

Not having Rowdy in Reardon High School, makes it a little bit harder for Junior because people will make fun of him and could also hurt him. On page 54 Junior says, “I’m scared dad.” Dad replied, “You can always go back to the Rez School.” Junior does not want to go back to the Rez School because he could get hurt and he also won’t be able to get a good education. Junior already made the decision of going to a different school and he was not going to give it up just because he was scared. Junior has conquered some of his weakness. An example in which show us that Junior has overcome one of his fears is when Roger made a racist comment about Indians. He said, “Did you know that Indians are living proof that niggers fuck buffalo?” Junior punched Roger in the face and then challenged him to fight but instead Roger walked away from Junior. This is a big achievement for Junior because this time he didn’t have to depend on Rowdy to help him out. Little by little, Junior is defeating his…

With outstanding level of integrity, as well as rectitude despite a distressing home life, it would be justifiable to identify Johnny Cade in The Outsiders, as a hero. Although some may disagree with this statement by stating that Johnny could never be a hero simply because he killed Bob. However, we must remember the salient fact that when Ponyboy was being drowned in the park fountain by David, Johnny stabbed Bob on behalf of Ponyboy’s protection, despite the generally terrifying, and painful nature of an action that heinous. In addition, when the children were trapped in the burning church on Jay Mountain, Johnny ran to the rescue without hesitation, even if it meant putting his own life at risk for the benefit of others. Finally, and most importantly, when Johnny was dying in hospital, and did not have much time left before death, he did not try to feel sorry for himself, he instead said goodbye…
