Who Is Mathilde In The Necklace

In the story “The Necklace”, written by Guy De Maupassant. The main character Mathilde Loisel, was more of a round character rather than a flat one. Mathilde is also the protagonist, she is the leading character in the story that faces a real event. In the story Mrs. Mathilde is described as a beautiful young woman who is miserable with her life. She constantly dreamed of a glamorous lifestyle and was never happy with the life she had. She believed that beauty and charm allowed her to better things. Mathilde husband Mr. Loisel worked hard to support his wife wants to please her, but everything he did not make her happy. Mr. Loisel was the total opposite of his wife, he was satisfied with his life and did not wish for a better one. He did not care too much about social status and money. He was a hard working man and his effort at work got him an invitation to one of the biggest parties. He thought of receiving the invitation would make his wife happy, but it made her upset. She went on and on how she did not have anything nice to wear and she started to cry. Mr. Losiel decided to give her money that he was saving for himself to her so she can buy a dress for the party. That still wasn’t enough for her she wanted more. She complained that she did not
She seemed proud of the thought that her and her husband have been able to be better people by replacing the necklace she lost on that memorable night of the party. Mr. Losiel is a flat character he stayed the same throughout the story. Mathilde changed in the story reason why she is a round character. She started off as an ungrateful, selfish person who was unappreciated of the life she had, and she evolved into a person who took responsibility of the necklace she lost by helping her husband pay for it. When the necklace end up being fake just shows that money doesn’t buy
