Who Is Thomas Jefferson A Southern Aristocrat

Thomas Jefferson - author of the Declaration of Independence, third president of the United States of America, and highly respected aristocrat- was one of the most politically influential men in history. Jefferson was a man who showed a great interest in the natural world and philosophy and also proved to have a good eye in law. He was a very liberal and respectable man who set out to create an American government that gave every man equal rights. He was a man who wanted to end the evil that was known as “slavery.’’ Thomas Jefferson was a southern aristocrat who was a diligent scholar, strong political leader, and an admirable man. Thomas Jefferson, born on April 13, 1743, grew up in Virginia, the largest American colony in size at the time. His father, Peter Jefferson, married his mother, Jane Randolph-Jefferson;thus, expanding the Jefferson land and wealth allowing Jefferson to be born into a class of aristocracy. At Tuckahoe when Jefferson was a boy, he learned to read music and play the violin; as a result, Jefferson developed a passion for music. Jefferson even states, ‘‘Music is the favorite passion of my soul’’(Meltzer, 20); likewise, music is a favorite passion of mine as well. Also, Thomas Jefferson shared a great passion for reading and learning about the natural world. He would read, in his father's library, books that held information pertaining to subjects such as history, geography, astronomy, common literature, and of course law. I have a strong love for reading; on the contrary, I do not find the topics of law and history very amusing and would not read them for my own pleasure.
