Who Is To Blame In Romeo And Juliet
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet tells a tragedy of two “star-crossed” lovers. The two lovers death may have left people questioning who is to blame? So, who is to blame? Many characters could be at fault for the deaths but the following are highlighted: Lord Capulet, Lady Capulet, and Fate. “To go with Paris to Saint Peters Church, or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither. Out, you green-sickness carrion! Out, you baggage! “ (DBQ: project, 2013) IN act three of scene five, Capulet says these words to Juliet. They basically mean, marry who I wish you to (Paris) and do as I say or you will get kicked out of my house. These simple and hurtful words probably affected Juliet and hurt her. She was pressured with marriage at a young, innocent age. If you were in her position how would you feel? Imagine being forced to marry someone you did not want to and threatened for it by your father. Capulet also says, “ I tell thee what: get htee to church o’ Thursday, or never after look me in the face...my fingers itc” (DBQ: project, 2013). In this quote he threatens her once again. At this point she was probably terrified.

His beautiful and innocent wife may also be guilty. Juliet and Lady Capulet did not have a close relationship and this may have been a issue. Juliet had nobody to talk to. Lady Capulet also forces the marriage upon Juliet. “How standing your disposition to be married?” “ I was your mother upon these years”. (DBQ: project,2013) She questions Juliet about how she feels about being married and is telling her when she was Juliet's age, which is about fourteen, she was a mother. This puts double the pressure and poor Juliet with the whole marriage deal. Both of her parents want her married as soon as
possible. Though Juliet got enough heckle from her parents, what if there is someone else to blame? Fate. The prologue of the play says “ A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life...the fearful passage of their death mark’d love, and the continuance of their parents’’ rage. “ (DBQ: project,13) All of this meaning, they had this whole death thing coming for them. It would have happened no matter what and nothing could have stopped it. Using all evidence found in the (DBQ: project, 13), the three accused of Romeo and Juliet's deaths have a lot of evidence.
