Norman Cousins's essay page three hundred thirty seven to three hundred thirty nine titled "Who Killed Benny Paret" is a grueling look into a dark part of human nature. Around the mid ninteen thirtys Cousins had an interview with the most promenent/powerful man in boxing at the time, a prize fighter promotor by the name of Mike Jacobs. The subject of the interview was on pleasing the crowd; the only important part of sucessful promoting in Mr.Jacobs' opinion. Cousins ,shockingly, was told that people would only come out for the most violent competitors and most vicious prize fights. The author then reflects about the death of a young boxer, Benny Paret.
