Why Basketball Is Important
Basketball is the sport I been playing since I was twelve, I love this sport because you can go anywhere in the world and you will see a basketball hoop anywhere. It does not matter by the court length and the court width, what really matter was a basket for you to shoot on. At an early age I realize basketball is important with these three things, being a good dribble, knowing the smartest pass or play, and for you to be able to shoot the ball; if you didn’t have these three simple things in your repertoire, you were not considered a basketball player. My coach always told me “don’t ever pick up your dribble” the reasoning was the defender can put so much pressure on you when you pick it up the ball than dribbling it. I always knew how to dribble the ball so the defender never wanted to play up because he will get his ankles broken. When I got older my dribble had to become a sharp and fast dribbler so I can have different options on the court to score or to facilitate on the court. …show more content…
I always had a plan to pass the first half the game and the second half I can do a combination of both just because I was going for a double- double every game. As I became more good with passing the ball at the right time to the right person I would get a little fancy and make the crowd go crazy. I never been the person to keep the ball to myself I always love to pass. Now that my brother sees me pass more he tells me to shoot more and I always tell him “I am an all-around player who wants to make my teammate better before I get mines” and he respected

I have always love to play basketball. The swish when you make it just right, and the boom of the basketball hitting the floor “are sounds I love”. When I first started playing basketball, my mom and my couch Richard knew that I was expectational. I played with Richard for a few years, then one day he told us about this newspaper ad he saw for a team named “Eugene Fire”. My mom decided to check it out, so she called the coach, Jim. He said I probably won't make the team, but I believed I could. So I would try anyways.…

Being a member of the Mighty Cougar basketball team, there were a couple of basic skills I needed to know, such as passing, dribbling and shooting the ball. I wanted to show my teammates and coaches that I could bring the ball down the court and successfully execute a play. As a Point guard, it was my job to take the ball down the court, and if I couldn’t do that then I had no place on the team. During game situations where the score is close, the other team may try and pressure the ball handler up the court to attempt and force a turnover. So with the help of the coach I learned to keep my head up, make short crisp passes and to keep the ball close to my side when dribbling. During our game against Brandies I was able to do just that. We were up by 2 with 30 seconds left and Brandies had their full court press in full swing. It was my duty to handle the ball down the court and using the…

Since I was 7 years old, basketball has played an integral part of my life. I have devoted countless hours to not just a sport, but a passion, an outlet; to the game that I love. When I arrived at Bow Middle School as a fifth grader, my classmates and I would always look up to the 7th and 8th grade middle school basketball teams. Every year during winter carnival, the boys and girls teams would play a game in front of the entire school. Playing in that game became a dream and a goal of mine, but first I would need to make the team. For three years I developed my basketball skills, using my passion for the sport and desire to play in that game as motivation. When tryouts for basketball in 8th grade drew near, I knew I was ready. However a new coach would be at the helm this year. Our new basketball coach was also a coach for the youth football program. This resulted in numerous football…
