Why cannibis should be legal
Cannabis, “weed” is legal in Washington, California, and Colorado so far in 2014 and this number is going to most likely increase. Cannabis should be legal in all of the states in United States for many convincing reasons.
Cannabis is used by a large percentage of Americans in the United States. But sadly, most of the percentage is consuming the natural herbs illegally. So I ask why most something that is not that harmful, makes people feel good be illegal. We all know it can cause some harm to the body but it’s the person decision; besides it has many more up factors then down.
Many successful People used marijuana to make better music or relief some stress. An example of this would be the American film director, screen writer, producer and veteran, Oliver Stone. When he was in Vietnam for a long time and using Marijuana was the difference between staying human or becoming a beast. Another great example is Bob Marley. He used cannabis to write some of his greatest hits and to relax. He often sang and talked about the influence it had on his music and thought process.
A question that many people ask is if alcohol is legal why cannabis is illegal. Marijuana is way safer then alcohol to me, and a lot others. According to the Centers for Disease Control, too much of alcohol use is the third leading lifestyle-related cause of death. In a typical year, there are about 25000 alcohol included deaths in the United States, most from long term consequences and some from alcohol poisoning. On the other hand Cannabis does not cause overdose deaths, and comes with way less long term affects. According to the Institute of Medicine, people who use marijuana are far less dependent than those who drink alcohol. Crazy isn’t it?
Marijuana also has positive qualities such as medical gain. Many people use marijuana because they have made an informed decision that it is good for them, especially Americans suffering from a variety of serious disorders. Cannabis can provide

There is no solid reason for marijuana to be illegal. The risks and dangers of taking it are about the same as the risks of drinking alcohol of smoking tobacco, both which are legal for adults. Furthermore, making it illegal is ineffective at stopping minors from taking the drug, and makes the drug more dangerous because it cannot be regulated. Legal marijuana would be less dangerous because it would have to conform to safety standards, and have warnings to keep people informed, like cigarettes do. If society can change their views on alcohol, they can change their views on marijuana.…

Like most stories they’re always two sides of the tale. One side may seem right, and the other may seem wrong. The fact still stands that they’re two or more differences in the matter of opinion. In the United States they’re some states that have legalized the use of Marijuana, and a vast amount of states that still outlaw the use of it within their territory. I believe Marijuana should be legalized by the vote of the people who live within that state. How come Alcohol and Tobacco (Which cause a great deal of physical, mental dysfunction to the human body) stay legal in all states, and yet still outlaw marijuana that causes no cancer or diseases what so ever?…

What many people do not understand about marijuana is that it is a safe drug and not all drugs are bad drugs. “Marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose.” (NORML, 2015). Marijuana comes in third behind alcohol and tobacco as the most popular recreational drugs. There has never been a death due to marijuana due to the fact that is is nearly impossible to overdose and it is “nontoxic”. It is very confusing to many people as to why this drug is illegal when looking at how safe it is compared to things like alcohol and tobacco…
