Chromatography is the separation of mixture by passing it in solution or suspension or as vapor. It's a technique for separating mixtures into the components this needs to happen in order to do the 4 things analyze,identify,purify,quantify. Many scientist use this to do the 4 steps. When analyzing its used to examine the mixture and to find out the relation with one another. In purifying you need to seperate or take away and put it by itself for further study. In identifying its to determine the identity of that mixture you are testing. In quantify its to determine the amount of that mixture. Another example is Environmental activity it's used to determine the level of pollutants in the water supply and that's when it comes in to place. One type of chromatography is gas. Gas separates vaporized with a carrier gas. Another type of chromatography that many use and also scientist is Paper chromatography its used to separates dried liquid and with chromatography paper its helps do that. One more example is Thin layer chromatography which is used to separate dried liquid solvent with a glass plate covered and can use either silica gel or alumina for the layer. What i expect to gain from this experiment we will be doing is many things like how will be doing this experiment step by step. Which type of chromatography will we be using in order to get the data and results of this experiment we will be doing.
