Professionalism requires us to maintain appropriate standards and fulfil our responsibilities to learners, institutions and colleagues (Francis and Gould, 2009:10). This is achieved by setting professional and personal boundaries which will enable us to be clear about what our limits are and what our professional role involves.…
I believe my most important indicators of professionalism I posses are arriving early to work to prepare materials and ensuring that everything is in place for student’s arrival. I collaborate with my peer in planning of most skills using a daily routine. We discuss students’ goals and achievements and I make recommendations for future interventions. In my opinion, my ability to reach each learner brings about desired outcomes of student engagement. I have a high sense of efficacy and a passion for teaching. Therefore, I am constantly searching for best practices to implement in my classroom. I am willing to take more risks, set higher standards for myself and my students and provide the potential for higher academic gains among my students. Student learning is my responsibility and I…
Between the years of 1600-1754, three distinct regions were formed in the new world. The three main English settlement areas were categorized into the New England, Middle, and Southern group of colonies and all had major differences and events that led to their own identity. Many people moved to these new colonies to start a new life, try to make a large profit, or even to escape religious restrictions. These three areas provided a new place for people or families to start over and control their own futures, and this played a major role in history.…
1. The New England colonies were characterized by greater social stability than both the southern and middle colonies. They were different mainly because of their geography. Unlike the New England colonies, the southern and middle colonies were far apart and had created their own individualistic societies when they settled, because they were so spread out. The New England colonies were very close together due to their mountainous geography so it was easy for them to maintain contact and have an organized government.…

As it pertains to working in the medical field, I learned from today’s lecture that judgment is based more on the characteristics of professionalism than the medical training itself. (Absher, 2016). These professional characteristics consist of appearance, attire and behaviors to name just a few. Not only is it imperative that we dress professional for this reason, but also because of the negative affects a casual dress code can have on one’s behaviors and work ethics. According to Absher (2016), dressing in a more relaxed attire can lead to an increase in tardiness, and poor choice of conversations between coworkers as well…
A veterinarian is one who is qualified and authorized to treat diseases and injuries of animals. Veterinarians are employed by wildlife preserves, animals parks, zoos, and aquatic installations. The federal, state and city governments see veterinarians in the research and their treatments of animals who have diseases that can spread to humans, or who have been neglected, abused, or more. Veterinary training includes two to four years at an approved college of veterinary medicine, training, etc. A licensing examination has to be passed before they even practice veterinary medicine. There are about twenty-one veterinary colleges in the United States. About 1,400 people graduate from these colleges. These people are trained in the prevention of diagnosis and treatment of animals.…
The staff at Amherst Veterinary Hospital were very professional when speaking to their customers. I discovered that in order to be a vet you need strong communication skills and patience. In a serious work environment such as the vet office, customers may be stressed out because of their pet's health condition which is why it is important to deal with their issues in a calm matter. An example of this is when one of the cats has a mass removal done, the owner wanted the vet to call. After the procedure was completed, the vet waited an hour to call the owner because the cat was still asleep due to the medication still being in effect. Once the cat was awake, the vet phoned the owner. The owner began to shout at the vet because she didn't call…
Since the first day I started clinical there were policies for professionalism at the clinical site. Professionalism standards that were place were: proper uniform, covering of tattoos, ID badge and many others (National University, 2015). Professionalism is defined as the conduct, aims, or qualities that mark a profession or professional person (Merriam-Webster, 2016). I feel professionalism is a concept that has been create by society or an organization to represent certain values. For example, National University implemented their policy on professional appearance to represent the values of National University.…

An example of personal encounter of a professionalism issue would be patient confidentiality. I have experienced many cases during my clinical rotations where many health care workers who were not directly involved with a specific patient would make comments about the patient that were not professional. I feel that keeping patient information strictly among those who are involved in their case is important. The only time it would be acceptable would be to receive knowledge from other professionals in the health care field on how to better care for the patient.…
