When I was younger, I struggled with writing. So throughout high school, I always dreaded the possibility of taking Composition 1, but even though it will be difficult, I know it will be worth it. After all, most things worth doing are not easy.
Thinking rationally, as opposed to focusing on what I was not looking forward to, brought me to the decision of which class makes the most sense in my situation. For starters, Composition 1 is required by most colleges. Taking it now in high school keeps me from paying later. If I had chosen English 4 instead, writing would still be necessary, but would not count for dual credit. In addition to those reasons, I was also aware that my skills regarding essays were lacking, and that the class would hopefully

Freshman Composition has done so much for me academically. In previous years I have had to do little to no writing and even when we did there were no rules or writing process we had to follow. This class has built a great basis for me, towards my academic future. I do realize that I am far away from being even an average writer, but I enjoy and accept that challenge to myself on becoming a competent writer. Parts of my writing, that still need to work are my introductions and sentence fluency. While I believe that my strong suits are, that once I get past my obstacles of writing that I have the potential to write something that will make a difference, other than that all my skills are still very raw. I’ve learned many things during EN101, the…

After enrolling in the Dual Credit English Composition 1 class, I was afraid of many aspects of the course. I was petrified of meaningless things: deadlines, word counts, and plagiarism. Although each of those aspects are important to consider and be mindful of, they are, in no way, anything to worry over. I lost confidence in myself and my writing, through my own frightening thoughts. Almost a full semester into the class, I know now that through hard work and careful, in depth writing that I can accomplish anything that I put my mind to. I learned that my silly fears were restraining me from accomplishing great things. I was able to overcome many obstacles pertaining to my writing, while in this class. One major obstacle that I was able to overcome and improve myself greatly on was transitioning; I ask myself, “How was I able to improve my transitioning skills in just one semester?” but the answer is quite clear: practice.…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. My writing changed in many ways such as learning to eliminate unnecessary wording in my thesis, the use of synonyms, analyzing quotes and writing abstract to concrete thoughts or ideas. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

I chose to do my paper on this particular piece because I love church music and wanted to get to know the history of this piece. I like this piece because this song can be used to encourage depressed people and those who are almost giving up in life. This musical acts as a comfort to them and gives them a reason to go on and to never give up. I really enjoyed this piece. There are no dislikes from me, I love Christian music and this piece really spoke to me. First I would like to share some background Information on this piece. Hallelujah piece was composed by George Frederic Handel in 1741 and at that time the composer was in despair and depressed. The song’s title is called messiah while the chorus is known as the Hallelujah chorus. This song is among the most beautiful compositions and the recording is probably one of the best performances of George Frederic Handel. The song has a heavenly choir and wonderful soloists. George Frederic Handel composed the song at the time when he was in a state of despair. George locked himself up in his study room and within a period of seven days, he was through with the first part of the song which came to be called the birth of the messiah. After another period of nine days, George was through with the second part of the song which came to be known as the redemption. Within a period of less than seven days, George was through with the third part of the song which came to be called the resurrection, and the future reign of Christ. The song Hallelujah chorus became a triumph to many people including the king who rose to his feet on hearing the chorus. The act of the king rising to his feet is a tradition and custom that still prevails. This is because even in churches, the congregation rises to its feet when the Hallelujah chorus is performed. This song has become the most…

When choosing classes a person normally does not choose a class that they will regret or even cringe when thinking about the class. However, when you have no other choice and are required to take such a class then you must complete it. When I started this class I hated writing, my brain is just not set up for this and with attention deficit disorder my brain starts to wander. I am not going to use that as excuse or even a crutch I have had it long enough that I know how to work through it. Now that I have taken Writing 101s I have leaned a lot of structure and discipline and my writing has come a long way even though it is not perfect. I still…

I am really unsure about having to take an English composition course because I am not a writer and the field I am studying for is not one that I would have to write for. I am going to put my all into completing this course to the best of my ability. My hope is that I do not get an apathetic attitude towards the course as the curriculum goes on.…
