Why Did 9/11 Happen

On September 11, 2001, a disastrous tragedy happened. Four planes were being hijacked by 19 Islamic terrorists on Tuesday. The terrorist’s leader was Osama bin Laden who planned the attacks. Two of the planes were flown into the World Trade Center in New York City, the third plane hit the pentagon that was supposed to hit the White House, and the last plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. From that day, multiple changes were made after this horrible occurrence. Some people still mourn about their lost ones even though it happened about 14 years ago. After that day, everything seemed to be more uptight like their security. Before 9/11, they were not that strict on security or checking the bags. They allowed some items that can be bought back then on the plane, but now, most of them cannot be bought on the plane. After 9/11 happened, individuals seemed to learn more about the world as a
result of how changes were made , this mistake became an opportunity, and the issues that the United States have to encounter. This may affect society in different types of ways. September 11 was unexpected to everyone.
Many people drive since they thought it would avoid being killed, but they were kind of wrong. Air traveling decreased about 20 percent because many Americans get into car accidents (Evans). “It took more than nine years, but the United States found and killed the al-Qaida leader who bankrolled the 9/11 attacks” (Beard). The terrorists came to the United States around the year of 2000. FBIs did not they were there, and they looked for them everywhere out of the country. The CIAs knew they were in the United States back then. Before 9/11, FBIs and CIAs did not communicate and share information with each other because they have this “wall” in between them. If the CIAs and FBIs could have worked together, 9/11 could have been prevented. Both of them actually looked up evidence and information prior to 14 days of 9/11. Everything that has happened gave the government a heads up of more awful events that will be occurring in the future. Most of the administrations ignored the warnings, and they were not prepared for this destructive
occasion. These mistakes gave opportunities for the world to change. The airport’s rules from back then and now are very different. In 2001, they allowed 4 inches knife to be carried on a plane, but now, it is not allowed. They also allowed any size of water bottles or any liquid stuff. Now, it cannot be more than about 3 ounces of liquid. Airports have at least 50,000 security officers, directors, air marshals, and managers so they can easily protect the transportation system and look for bombs at checkpoints. They also did not check passports if the person were going to one of the states in United States, Canada, or Mexico. This century, they have body scanners and computer scanners so they can check if someone bought objects that were not acceptable. People have to take their shoes, belts, and any accessories that can be taken off so they can scan it. These are the variations that were made after the misfortunate incident occurred. It bought countless attention to everyone about how they can prevent no more terrorist attacks or other terrifying actions. The quote, “Sometimes a mistake becomes an opportunity,” means that the bad can affect what will the future generations will become. Every mistake can be learned and fixed like the military. The military before 9/11 was not that enforced as much as it is in the 21st century. There are more military troops after the attacks. “The United States military spent billions of dollars developing stealth aircraft which are invisible to radar so they can mount surprise attacks on adversaries, but it seems they should have saved their money and bought a fleet of airliners because they appear to be far more effective” (The 9/11 USAF Stand Down). During 9/11, the military did not know where the plane will be landing and how to deal with this typical issue. Some of them predicted where they were hitting, but they never made a move. It was really surprising for them because it was unexpected, and the planes came out of nowhere. Now, they are more prepared of what will be happening. September 11, is the day that everyone thinks about what happened, and the tragic incident that had been occurred especially the ones who had relatives or close friends that died in the World Trade Center. This day will always be remembered since it was a very devastating day in American history. Not only innocent people died, but the buildings and airplanes were destroyed. This put the world in a never ending war, and people were afraid after the attacks. The enemies wanted to destroy the economy, but it destroyed the planes and the Twin Towers. Some changes were made, but it is actually a good change so folks will be safer in the future. Osama Bin Laden had anger towards the United States, and he acted on those emotions. If he did not take action upon his anger, this would not result an attack. Everything that happen is a lesson to be learned. This showed that a terrorist could not bring down this one strong nation, but it brought them together.
