kill 125 people and destroy a government building. The plane hijacking was one of the few events where American soil was attacked, which was a devastating moment to people all over the country. It’s believed that the plane was heading for The White House because of the direction it was heading. People look at terrorism differently because the Muslim people who flew the planes crashing into American soil.
9/11 started a more intense stereotype on the Muslim’s and people still hold strong reactions to the events of the day.
Some Americans reactions today, are based off of the events of 9/11. It is commonly associated that if you’re a muslim, you’re a terrorist because of who hijacked the planes. People started to look at the people in society differently because of the constant fear of not knowing what could happen at any moment and what people were capable of. People who are old enough to remember 9/11 get emotional talking about the events because all of the shock and devastation. “I visited the Pentagon a few days after September 11, and I still remember so vividly the smell of terror surrounding the entire building and complex. September 11, 2001 will forever be the event that shocked Americans for a lifetime. This was the biggest attack on American soil since the Pearl Harbor. Since 9/11 Osama Bin Laden has been killed, the Twin Towers and Pentagon have been rebuilt, and there has been a plethora of beautiful memorials that were built in remembrance which helped people cope.
