Why Did Her Sisters Attract The Worst-What?
It seems her little sister was quite popular, a fact that Laurel was not prepared for. Not to say Bryony wasn’t pretty and any man was unworthy of her attention, none of them deserved her sisters attention. They were, and too mean no harm to Damian or dear Silas (even if he was walking a tightrope), of the disreputable type. And this next one that came was the one from before. Dearest Mother, why did her sisters attract the worst- what? Why was this blue eyes degenerate looking at her and oh my God. If Laurel hadn’t spent years schooling her emotions and mastering what she showed to the world, they would have seen as mix of horror and disgust on her face.

Instead she regarded the man cooly, he’d be lacking in the head if she thought Laurel would leave her sisters unguarded from the likes of his type.

She stumbled down the dias but righted herself directly in front of the man who had not introduced himself. With the heels dear Dahlia demanded, Laurel stood taller than him. Now a frown of disgust was obvious on her face as she looked down at him then over him at Bryony was she escaped to the dance floor, then back at her sisters who all seemed content to watch the

When I think of the word sisterhood, I think of more than one individual sharing a blood-like connection. A sister is someone who you can talk to when you can't talk to anyone else. Someone you can get into an argument with and laugh within the next second because you know each other didn't mean it in a harmful way. She is someone who can make you laugh when you feel like crying, and will always keep it 100 with you by not telling you what you want to hear but what you need to hear. That someone you can depend on to be your rock when everything else is shaky. I believe that sisterly love means to accept your sister for what and who she is flaws and all.…

In Marian Ronan’s work, “Sister Trouble,” she discusses the vatican investigations of American Catholic sisters, and argues that the constant tension and conflict between catholic sisters and bishops and popes stems from the issue of gender. Ronan quotes Kathleen Sprows, who argues that throughout church history the issues between celibate women and men in the church have come about when these women step out of their traditional gender roles, as traditionalists believe strictly in the essentialist nature of gender. This means that men and women inherently have separate characteristics and capabilities. This is often paired with the idea of gender compatibility, in which men and women compliment each others capabilities, and thus, naturally go well together. Sprows writes that as opportunities for women to increase their education and power in society/the public sphere, they also come to challenge the traditional female gender role which places women mainly in the private sphere and as subordinate to men (pg.80).…
