Should the U.S have entered into WW1? President Woodrow Wilson felt he had good reasons for the U.S to go to war, but I feel that they were the wrong reasons and that the U.S really had no just cause to get involved in a war that was not theirs. My first reason why America should not have gone to war is, this was not our war. This war was between Europe and it should have stayed within Europe.…

First of all, the sinking of the Lusitania caused America to lose innocent civilians and the supplies and weapons it was carrying for Great Britain. The Lusitania was sunk without warning, killing over 12o American civilians. With America wanting to promote peace, they ignored it an accepted it as a loss. In addition to that incident, submarines sank seven U.S. merchant ships which pushed the U.S. to become involved. As much as I believe in peace and tranquility, America couldn’t just stand by and continue to lose innocent lives. America was nowhere near ready to join in the war.…

Both the House and the Senate voted overwhelmingly in favor of going to war with Germany."# This was an act that led to much resistance among the American people. Not four months earlier the American people re-elected President Wilson, partly because of his success in keeping the United States out of this European war. The U.S entry into World war one was extremely important for the allies. It is fair to say that without the Americans, the allies might have lost Paris and therefore lost the war. Their superior economy gave the allies and almost unlimited chain of supplies, ammunition and most importantly men. The effect was not just physical though. The morale of the German troops dropped greatly and mutinies and desertion was rife in their army, giving them one option, to retreat from the allies swarming fresh armies. The immediate impacts that its entry brought about were on morale and naval warfare.…

World War I began in 1914 and ended in 1918. The cause of the war was the numerous disagreements throughout Europe over territory and boundaries. The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, heir to the Austrian throne, and his wife Sophia by a Serb Nationalist sparked the beginning of the war. Austria declared war on Serbia which Russia helped, which then led to Germany declaring war on Russia and France, which triggered England to declare war on Germany. Many other nations joined and the fighting spread to Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. With the growing anxieties of the two great powers, England and Germany eventually fighting, many countries began to form alliances. England, France, and Russia were the Allies and Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey were the Axis powers. The United States remained neutral for three of the four years of the Great War, but many Americans felt sympathy for England and France because most Americans had emigrated from Europe and still felt a bit of loyalty for their homeland.
