Why Do People Have Free Will
I believe that all individuals have free will. They have the ability to choose their desired path, but what influences their decisions is the environment that surround them. The values and characteristics that individuals develop over time are influenced by their family, culture, and society. Individuals have free will, but because of their influences they are encouraged to choose what family, society, or their culture tells them what to do. It is up to the individual to either go with or against their influences. For example, if they do not agree with something from their religion they have the option to go against it or stop practicing that religion. Internally each individual has the ability to make their own decisions, but external forces definitely have an influence on it. When using free will the external forces act as peer pressure pushing the individual to make a decision that is acceptable with no regards to what the individual thinks or feels. …show more content…
Though a mild amount of competition in social relationships are beneficial and can help individuals grow or improve each other, cooperation is key in these relationships. If there is no cooperation then it would be a constant give or constant take relationship. If one individual is the only one to work then it may create some negative feelings and in the end ruin the relationship all together. People can change this orientation by expressing their feelings about the relationship to one another. It may not be a fast and easy fix, but it is achievable. Both parties must be able to speak about their feelings in a clear and effective way. This can be achieved by creating boundaries, compromising a solution that pleases both individuals, and communicating opinions and feelings. Relationships can be transformed so that it meets the needs of each individual as long as each person is willing and committed to

With many different choices that we can take, we realize that some of the choices have effects on our lives throughout time. The downside of free will is the very choices we make. A very wise man once says, "God versus Man, Man versus God, God versus Nature, Nature versus God, Man versus Nature, Nature versus Man." These six battles constitute an ultimately greater battle: the battle of free will versus determinism. Free will is the ability for a human being to make decisions as to what life he or she would like to lead and have the freedom to live according to their own means and choose their own destiny.…

Also, we as a society cannot achieve better if we work alone compare to working together. Such as, neanderthal and how they weren’t able to survive compared to us (homosapien). Neanderthal is a specie that works alone and are powerful. However, they dislike working together as a whole. They have so much potential to be the strongest specie on this world, but the one reason that brought them to extinction is their choice of working alone instead of together. We (homosapien) ended up being superior since we are able to group up and work together to survive. Division is the number one problem and if we are able to fix it, we can be greater and better as a whole. To bring this discussion back, I believe that cooperation is one of the most important trait to develop. It’s better to have help than to just try to accomplish a problem by oneself. Cooperation is one of the few traits that we don’t value as much as other traits until we see how much effect it has on us. However, as society advances, it still leaves us with a question regarding collaboration and division, will society choose to be divided or will they realize the value in working together as a…

Do you have freewill? Do you have the ability to choose what you do at no cost? Many believe that freewill coincides with freedom. Freewill is having the power of acting without constraint of necessity or fate. Freedom is having the power to act, speak, or think as one wants without restraint or hindrance. Americans do not have freewill because of Social Security, the laws and amendments that are put into place, by the religions that are practiced, and by individuals involved in a community.…

In my personal life I ask myself these questions when I am going through a tough situation. I often ask if we have free will to do what we want. According to David Hume, “the question of the nature of free will is the most contentious question of metaphysics. If this is correct, then figuring out what free will is will be no small task indeed. Minimally, to say that an agent has free will is to say that the agent has the capacity to choose his or her course of action.” (http://www.iep.utm.edu/freewill/). And I feel we have the free will to choose what…

Arguments about free will are mostly semantic arguments about definitions. Most experts who deny free will are arguing against peculiar, unscientific versions of the idea, such as that free will means that causality is not involved. These arguments leave untouched the meaning of free will that most people understand which is consciously making choices about what to do in the absence of external coercion, and accepting responsibility for one’s actions. Hardly anyone denies that people engage in logical reasoning and self-control to make…

The freewill versus determinism debate refers to the question of whether a person has control their over behaviour and understands the motives behind it (freewill), or if their behavior is determined by some force over them and have no control (Determinism), such as their genetics or upbringing. Although they are both very different perspectives believe both nature and nurture to play an important role in the development of someone’s personality and behavior. Psychoanalysts tend to believe in determinism, as a result of perceived unconscious influences on the character, and humanists believe in free will.…

Some people think that free will doesn’t exist and that everyone’s fate is predetermined long before they were born. Free will is making all life decisions simply by choice, having control over everything done in life. Fate is no matter what happens it was meant to happen, and nothing that is done can change what is destined to happen. Just imagining that everything done in one’s life is not decided by that person is completely absurd. Life is all choices to think that it isn’t all by free will makes no sense. People are the masters of their own fate and to say otherwise is completely insane. People have free will and what they do with that decides their destiny.…
