The issue I have chosen to analyse is the use of self-enhancing drugs such as steroids, in all areas of sport. Drugs are an issue in every sport as they give the person taking the drug an advantage over the other players. It also affects their health. It also influences teenagers to take drugs as they believe that is a good thing to do.
Analysis:
Drugs have a very bad impact on society as people believe it is ok to take drugs because someone from their favourite football team took drugs. Then people become addicted to drugs and try to get their friends to take them. Football coaches might ask their players to take them as the coach believes it is ok to take drugs and believes it will not harm their bodies in any way.

They can also allow athletes to lose weight easier. However many people that use steroids will develop liver cancer, there organs will be damaged, they may have psychological problems, and sometimes infertility.
Pro athletes have a huge impact of teenagers as they are a big role model and if a pro athlete admits to taking drug then the teenagers believe that it gives them permission to take drugs. Although the pro athletes don’t want it to influence teenagers in this way it does.
There are many side effects of taking steroids. For men they can include reduced sperm count, infertility, shrunken testicles, erectile dysfunction, baldness, increased risk of developing prostate cancer and stomach pain. For women they can include facial hair growth and body hair, loss of breasts, a deepened voice, an increased sex drive, problems with periods and hair loss. For both men and women they can include heart attack or stroke, liver or kidney tumours, high blood pressure (hypertension), blood clots, fluid retention, high cholesterol. These are all very severe and some could potentially kill you.
