Why Do Students Attend College?
Every American student gets to go to school for free from Pre-school through their High School years. During their High School years, they need to obtain a high ACT Scores and a high GPA in order to get free full Scholarship and grants that will help them through their first year of college. However, for some students that aren't doing well in High School GPA, it doesn't mean that they have to pay out of pocket when they attend college. Every College and University in America, they have their own scholarships programs, grant, loan and work-study and other resources from other foundation, which are waiting for them to apply. Those funds are great for all students who need help that their family can't afford to pay for their tuition like others. Unlike, Cambodia students every time they go to school, their parents have to help them with all the costs and expenses from pre-school to their college years. We don't have any such support from the government or any scholarship funding from school program like here in America. Even though some parents are wealthy enough to send their kid to school but they need to work really hard on every subject they took in class. But if they feel that they need help on a subject, they have to go to tutoring after class, which they have to pay extra for the subject. So for some kids whose parents can only send them to a regular school but not to a special tutoring, then their grades would really be low and often they will fail the class and eventually drop out of school. …show more content…
In my opinion, I think America and government really support kids in education because of the financial available both from the public and private and free tutor in each school library that is such a help to those who need

Today in America education is not highly valued in our society as it were in the past As our education value decline other country in Asia (such as China, Japan, Korea, India, Pakistan, e.t.c) excel over us. After reading the article “Why They Excel” by Fox Butterfield I began to understand some of the reason why Asia excels. Butterfield clearly state that American students are not doing as well as Asia student because American family are not getting involve/supporting in their children school life. And also it’s hard work, motivation, and how we’re raised. I believe this is true because many Americans have lost their value of hard work to succeed in life; instead they rely on talent alone.…

College plays a role a student’s life, one of these roles are to help get students a better job that pays them a lot but that isn’t the only reason. According to Melisa McCreery “Higher education provides a number of benefits; most notably to the nation’s economic stability and job creation, civic engagement, and pulling students from low socioeconomic situation and landing them securely in middle class America.” In other words college is to help better a student’s life as well as to help them be able to contribute to society positively. College also provides many classes that can help students achieve their full potential when they are out in the world as well and making you better understand the world. Is college worth going to? Does going to it help you in the future? Or does it just put you in debt? Many people think of college as something that everyone has to go to, to be successful in life. But it isn’t alway necessary to be successful. For example some of the most successful people in the world such as Bill Gates and Steve Jobs dropped out of high school but are very proficient at what they do. Right now you may think that it doesn't matter if I go to college because they didn’t and yet they became very successful. But you’re wrong. Even though they succeeded when they dropped out and didn’t go to college it doesn’t mean you will. College is worth going to even if it costs thousand of dollars and even if you’re not meant to be there.…

In many countries education is considered a fundamental right, in the United States however it is a little different. Each state must provide education through 12th grade for all their citizens although someone only needs to attend until age sixteen. In this country each state is required to have an education system, but the federal government doesn’t have much regulation over each state’s program. The things the government does regulate are ensuring that everyone gets an education. The Equal Educational Opportunities Act of 1974 ensures that no one can be denied an education based on race, sex, etc.…

The reason why i want to attend college is because it will be an honor to my family and especially to my mother. College is not common in my family because no one has gone to college yet and I would want to be the first in my family to attend a 4 year university. Going to college will make me feel proud of myself because I will make my mom proud and not just that, but make myself proud of all the accomplishments i have accomplished so far. Personally my career goals is to do something i'm just not going to enjoy for a temporality time, but for the rest of my life. The field where i would want to study is physical therapy or a field where i would be working with bones, possibly I can major in english. This is highly looked upon by foreigners because they like that we not only require that students are educated, but that the United States provides free elementary, middle, and high school for boys and girls. In some countries still to this day, girls are not allowed to attend school. Such as the well known story of Malala in Pakistan, she was 15 years old trying to pursue in education and her consequence was the Taliban shot her. In Pakistan, These countries will even bring violence to those girls who do attend and the girls are looked at as just to be housewives and typically are married before age of 15. This creates a very high opinion look on our…

The most enlightening evidence may come from Columbia and their PACE voucher program though. This is very good empirical evidence compared to that of the studies done in the U.S. because there is a longer term where data is collected as well as much smaller amounts of attrition and compromising factors. (Angrist, 2006, p. 859). What Angrist found was that students who were a part of the voucher program “completed more years of school and had lower grade repetition, higher test scores,” (2006, p. 847) and a “substantially higher high-school graduation rate.” (2006, p.…

American students fall so far behind in education than students in India, Asia and Europe especially in math and science. As educational researcher Harold Stevenson (1993) notes, although "the U.S. is among the countries expending the highest proportion of their gross national product on education, our elementary school and secondary school students never place above the median in comparative studies of academic achievement."…
