Political parties have since 1796, become the source of electoral influence. Parties have violently discriminated against, and politically corrupted our constitutional system causing a gridlock. Our Government would function much more effectively if we did not have political parties because they distort the opinion of an electee and become too power hungry consequently, making Americans want to seek independent electors without a party. Politics refers to the influencing of the people, in other words, corrupting the opinions of voters. This country is known for its continuous support of the people and how our voices effect the Government. If only this was true. We can’t rely on our people anymore because of the lack of consideration going into a vote. There are two things that affect a voter's ballot, who they do not want to win and political parties. by Daniel Kim, he states that “Although elections are supposed to offer an organized system by which we elect representatives, even the minutiae of that system is controlled by major parties.” and later says that Delegates are appointed according to “their service, dedication, and loyalty to their political party.” We can’t rely on our State Delegate having a fair opinion; it will always be a prejudice outcome because of their loyalty for one party.
This idea is also represented in the Federalist Paper no. 68, “They have not made the appointment of the President to depend on any preexisting bodies of men, who might be tampered with beforehand to prostitute their votes...Thus without corrupting the body of the people, the immediate agents in the election will at least enter upon the task free from any sinister bias.” Just like a fan rooting for their favorite football team, delegates and voters alike will most likely vote for
their party, even if that particular personage has committed several crimes that have publicly been reprimanded. Loyalty is what they call it, I believe the term is more like an unsubstantial knowledge or care for who is elected; only by which party they come from. If there was no political parties, votes would be based on public advertising, political debates, and an overall decision brought upon from idealistic concern for the future of our Country. Secondly, politicians have risen to acquiring power through aggression while participating in government affairs, creating this unease and uncertainty within American parties. They [Politicians] seemingly justify themselves by explaining that this is what politics are all about, the climb to power; all in which I cannot disagree with, but I can misinterpret. In a novel by Douglas Schoen, he explains how people are starving for a third party or independent elector who can conform with the world's present technology and not be viewed at disrespectful, and greedy. “When I asked voters whether the presence of a third-party candidate would benefit the American political system, the answer was an unambiguous yes, and many voters understood that it would force the major parties to consider a broader array of policy options.” Citizens want new ideas, fresh perspective and we clearly are not receiving that from the current candidates. All in all, if we eliminated political parties altogether, our political system will be able to view our Country with a new standpoint. In conclusion, our votes will become less and less reliable as we either vote for our party or no part at all, and support the independent candidate. If America wants to solve Presidential elections, take it apart and seize it from the inside. Political parties are the main source and issue and has to be taken down. They, the Parties, are too powerful, too avaricious, and too intolerant for their and our own good.
