PRACTICE ANSWERS TO A
B. 1. My desire to take a course in adult nursing was established after my first work placement at a nursing home where I later acquired a paid job as a Care Assistant. During my time at the nursing home, I …show more content…
enjoyed talking to and caring for residents and developing relationships with them and this is something that really attracts me to nursing. My experience working in the nursing home also taught me how to work well in team with other professionals and made me appreciate how important it is to follow instructions given to me from senior staff.
2.. My nursing experience was when I have become a care worker for a residential home for adults and assisted them into handling their situations. I worked closely with adults for several weeks and enjoyed it and was asked to revisit which I did. Yet I have also visited a children’s home and studied communications during a one to one conversation with a resident from a local day centre that inspired me a lot to carry out my desired career.
3. The Nursing and Midwifery Council is a regulating body involved in setting standards for nurses and midwives to meet in their working lives. Nurses and midwives have a code of conduct that they must stick to, that states how they must work and behave and the expectations from the profession.
4. No other profession offers the opportunity to make such a profound difference on the lives of people who truly need and appreciate it. Good nurses greatly contribute to the success and stability of healthcare institutions and to the mental and physical wellbeing of their patients. They give not only their book knowledge, but a piece of their heart to each and every patient they care for.
5. It is about helping patients, with activities of living, assessing their needs, planning and implementing the care they need to assist them to become as independent as possible. However, not all people are able to recover, so the nurse 's role becomes one of continuing care, allowing the patient to die with dignity.
6. As a nurse you 're a listener, a manager, and a knowledgeable skilled professional. The key skills you will need to pursue a career in nursing is excellent people skills, good communication and observation, ability to answer questions and offer advice, happy to work as part of team, can deal with any emotional charged situations.
7. Most students find that their greatest challenge in adjusting to college life and to succeeding in the classroom is in managing their time effectively. This is especially true for community college students who often work long hours. Adult students deal with the additional issues of child care and family and home responsibilities and I deal with it by knowing my priorities and managing my time according to urgency.
8. There was a time when I needed to convey an important message to someone but first I needed to check if it was the right time for him to receive the important information. I set communication on a pace that will be taken lightly and appropriately and in turn will give me a feedback that I am expecting.
9. I am quite an emotional person, so I deal with pain in private so that you don 't display it in front of other patients or already grieving family members. This way, I could still be an advocate for the patient without compromising the patient nurse relationship.
10. I first decide if where the criticism does comes from, then I decide whether the criticism is valid or not. In that way, I can only acknowledge them but not totally letting it affect my motivation or sometimes even use it as a tool for improvement.
C.
MOCK INTERVIEW
D. –What went well?
-The questions regarding nursing experiences and how I see them is the best questions I have answered as I clearly associated them into how I understand nursing as whole.
-What could improve on?
-I could have improved on elaborating more of the stories I relate to my explanations.
-Did You get any feedback from the interviewer?
-Yes.
What have you taken from this experience?
-I realized that preparing for an interview would help you find better words to use in describing the questions if ever the topic or even the questions itself changes.
How will it help you prepare for your university interview?
-By doing a mock interview, the questions that could possibly be asked gives you chances of reviewing the possible turn outs for the questions. This is a healthy practice, specially it encourages the interviewee to squeeze out possibilities in garnering better chances of answering appropriate replies to questions.
