Learning Styles and Effective Study Habits
Describe the major characteristics of your preferred learning style?
Though I scored higher in Musical/Rhythmic, my preferred learning style is intrapersonal which was my second highest score. The major characteristics of my preferred learning style are learning best when working alone and only depending on oneself to to get things done. The learning style I scored highest in musical/rhythmic describes my personal preferences, but does not apply to my academic and professional preferences. Academically and professional my learning style of intrapersonal describes me more accurately. After being given instructions either verbally or I writing, I prefer to work alone to get the task or tasks completed. I am able to work effectively in a team, but my prefer to do things alone so that I know they are being done correctly versus depending on the accuracy of others.
List at least three study strategies and techniques you have or will use during this course to increase your effectiveness?
The three study strategies I have and will use during this course to increase my effectiveness are having a quiet place to study, reading for clarity, and taking notes while reading. I have found that studying in a quiet place helps me to concentrate better. Also, while studying in a quiet place I do not have to worry about any distraction which allows me to understand what I am reading because I am able to answer the questions I originally had while after I surveyed what I was about to read. Note taking is also a study strategy that helps me increase my effectiveness in this course because I am able to refer back to my notes before completing assignments.
