Why I Want To Attend Boston University
I want nothing more than to be more. I'm tormented by the idea of being stagnant, by being stuck where I am. Never accomplishing or knowing or being more than who I am at this very moment.

I want a positive trajectory, I want so much for my future and I want. I crave, I do not shy away from my ambition and I will always combat boredom.

BU is a place where I think I will be pushed to do more, to be more than the person I am, or could possibly be at other school. Boston University is a place that achievers belong, and I want to achieve things.

When I went there this summer, I was struck with the idea that I could do something with my life. Something worthy of italics, something note worthy. BU is a promise that I want to keep. It's something I want to hold onto.

Growing up Iranian American, I was greatly impacted by the opinions of my peers early on. Classmates would criticize my lunch or convey evident shock at the fact that I was Muslim, so I grew up feeling patronized for much of my early life. Eventually, I began surrounding myself with others who were also in my shoes, facing the discrimination that came along with being different. Over the years growing up surrounded in a fusion of cultures has made me appreciate the diversity that makes each culture so unique. Growing up traveling the world, learning multiple languages and being encouraged to accept all that cultures have to offer is something that is very beneficial in today’s global society and something that I will bring to SMU’s diverse campus. Should I be fortunate enough to attend SMU I will bring my open mind and worldly perspective to the learning environment and clubs on campus. Within the classroom I’d apply my background in my desire to study conflict within the Middle East and ways to resolve that.…

What I love the most about Tufts is the relaxed and accepting atmosphere among the student body, which is also reflected in the liberal arts education offered to students. Unlike other schools, my identity won’t just be defined by my major. At Tufts, I can be an artist as I take ceramics classes at SMFA, but also a scientist as I explore psychology.
