I would like to be a music educator, either a school teacher or a private instructor. I became interested when I found that I enjoyed teaching others about music. In my research paper I am describing the requirements to get a music education job, and then what they do on the job. For my project I am leading a group of middle school students in a clarinet choir and I hope to be able to improve the student’s playing ability in a smaller group setting. I would be demonstrating
those skills on the job, whether I choose private tutoring or teaching in a school.
I have helped several people with solos and how so play pieces in a song before in the band. Those students will take the skills I teach them and share them with others and/or continue to develop those skills throughout their lives. Some of the problems I could encounter are: people could quit and no one could fill their parts, no one will want to do it, and the students will not work hard enough and never become performance ready. I will face these problems by speaking to the students myself and making sure that they understand what is required when they join the group.
I plan on setting a schedule for the players and make certain practices required, and if needed, I will add more practices that are not required for the whole group, only select parts. I will have the band director, Mr. Turner, to help me and I will be able to get advice from articles on the internet on how to peak interest. I will be able to show the students by example as I will probably have to pull my clarinet out and show them the easiest way to play certain phrases.
“Plagiarism is a serious offence. If I take information that other people have written without given them credit, I am stealing their work. Plagiarism and falsifying document and logs will jeopardize not only my grade on the Senior Production, but also my eligibility to graduate. Doing well, graduating from high school, and achieving my Senior Production goals are important to me. I will not place my graduation or personal honor in jeopardy by cheating on any part of this project.”
