I am blessed to have two wonderful children ages 14 and 16 and have had the privilege of being able to be a stay-at-home mom during their younger years. Now that they are older and a bit more independent, I have decided to go back to school and fulfill my goal of earning my degree in Nursing. I have not only taught my children the importance of these characteristics, but I have also shown them that regardless of one’s age or stage in life, that…

During my childhood and early teenage years, I can remember my English teachers asking things like what do I want to be when I grow up? What to you want to study in college? As a child I would give a quick sentence or a couple of words. I would say that I wanted to be a cop, a firefighter ,or a chef. As a teenager, I was expected to contemplate and compile a three page written paper . My answers varied each and every year from wanting to be a teacher, a chef , to a social worker. I can remember many kids saying they wanted to become a nurse or doctor . I can never recall wanting to become a nurse myself. I have been told so many stories by my mother, that I was actually turned off from ever wanting to become a nurse. Then I had an experience that changed my mind, will change my future and what I will be doing with the rest of my life.…
