INTRODUCTION
Being a Certified Nurse’s Assistant is not easy. It’s actually not easy at all. It’s back-breaking work most of the time. It is also very emotional at times too. I think to have this job you can’t just be in it for the money. This job requires having a heart; not being in it for the money. There are a lot of different places that can employ CNA’s; hospitals, nursing homes, sometimes even doctor’s offices.
JOB DESCRIPTION
I work 3rd shift as a CNA at University Heights on County-Line road and absolutely love my job. Don’t get me wrong, 3rd shift was hard in the beginning, but I got used to it and …show more content…
Some of them treat the resident’s like they are just a bag a bones that are worthless. It breaks my heart to think that they get abused, neglected, and treated unfairly. It doesn’t happen in my facility, but it happens all over, and it is horrible. There was one case, where a CNA was giving a patient a shower and she turned the water to all the way hot and sat there and watched the patient get 3rd degree burns all over her body. Another case was a male CNA went into a woman patient’s room and raped her and took her things. The patient was 76 years old, and died the next week. That is why it is so important to make the resident feel welcome so he or she is not afraid to be in the facility. I absolutely love my job. I love going into work and saying hi to all my oldies! I won’t be a CNA for the rest of my life. I am going to school to be an RN then transfer to Indiana University or University of Indianapolis to get my BSN. I will miss my oldies when I leave, but when I do leave, I will leave that place knowing that I have hopefully made a difference in that facility. They are all my best friends and I love them to death! Hopefully some day when I get old and put into a facility I will have a CNA that will care about me as much as I care about them
