Why I Want To Become A Veterinarian
According to Eleanor Roosevelt, “You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every

experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you

think you cannot do.” As a young determined student, I have the desire to reach my goals. My

short term goal is to get accepted in an institution. I plan to do this by building a successful

academic record through getting high grades and getting all required credits to graduate high

school. For my longterm goal is to become a Veterinarian. In order to become a Veterinarian, I

If I want something badly enough that

I should seize the moment and take it. I believe that if I have the courage to face my fears then I

can have a great reward with a stronger sense of inner courage and the ability to take the next

painful event.

My belief is that since animals have a complex cognition, emotion, and can perceive pain, they

deserve to be treated humanely. I love animals, but I also love people, and I understand the

importance of healthy farm animals to poor rural communities. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said,

"It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help

another without helping himself." After gaining some veterinary practice experience, I will

volunteer in Veterinary mission team or organizations to help someone less fortunate than

myself. I understand the importance of healthy farm animals to poor rural communities so I will

be teaching them and equipping them with new skills, empower them to provide better care for

their animals and thereby improve the health and wellbeing of their families. I’m willing to

My counselor immediately sent me to Biology class. My classmate has

different ethnicity that I had never encountered before. They always gathered into groups. They

were loud and they were hopping from one seat to another. They were young people with a

rebellious streak.

My teacher noticed that I already know every topic, this caused my classmates to start

befriending me so that they could copy my work. I’m not in favor when someone’s work or score

is the same or higher than mine, so I became greedy with my answers and they started hating me

and kicked me out from their group.

My whole class started rumors that I was able to get high scores because I was searching

online for answers to every worksheet. Every day I came to Biology class, they were making

indirect comments, and I didn’t make any inappropriate reactions, and remained calm and

disciplined. A group of girls went to my teacher and told her that they knew that I was able to get

high scores because I have answer

Me being the impatient but helpful person I am I said “yeah sure”. So I moved this little box that any kid in my class could have easily moved outside of her moving it herself. She stopped what she was doing at her cabinet and she showed me my final exam grade and it said 89% B+. A surprised me began smiling excited that I would pass the class with almost a B average for the year. She looked at me and said “T, you are smart. You have given me 40% effort and still somehow you still have managed to pass my class, I struggle dealing with students who are incapable but try hard every single day and you don't show me any effort and still manage to do have a decent grade…” “Why are you afraid? You are easily one of the most gifted students I have encountered and you show no effort?”. I just sat there lost and confused and wondered how she knew and wonder why I had wasted all this time not living up to my full potential, I had let my fear of failure keep me from being the best student I could be. Through my volunteer experiences, I have learned that veterinary medicine is a unique field that encompasses not only the interaction with animals, but where you also get to educate their owners. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to volunteer at Harmony Farms, Inc., Horses for the Handicap, for several years and there is where I fell in love with horses. I observed how horses can comfort those that cannot walk, are paralyzed and suffering from PTSD along with other debilitating illnesses. At Harmony Farms, I witnessed how happy the horses made the riders and I wanted to help continue to bring those…
