Why I Want To Join The National Guard
During my High School years I kept seeing booths to recruit people into the National Guard. For some reason my body was telling me to join, but at the same time I had to think about what this would mean. I have always liked to hike because I get to be outside. I also enjoy traveling. These are the things that make me feel happy and full of life. My reasons for wanting to join the army is because it will let me explore more of what I love. I realize one day when hiking that I have this amazing chance to all of this, and it would be an amazing path to walk on. Being out in the open observing nature and wild animals just brings so much joy to me. I would love working and helping out on earth with a great crew of people. These are some things I think about when I travel, and take nature walks. …show more content…
To me it makes me happy but it's also scary to start something new something that you are not used to. I want to join to see more of Oregon, to experience things I wouldn’t. I want to see if it changes my view of life. Since sophomore year I’ve been thinking of seeing myself in a different setting and when I picture myself in the National Guard it made me happy and excited. I’m always wanting to help people. I think this would be a great opportunity. I want to be able to learn new skills and it would also give me a new way of seeing the world. I’m wanting to do something in the medical field since that is what I want to study here at Portland Community

My dad has told me a multitude of things he has experienced while in the Army and the opportunities given at hand when he was enlisted. I have also heard praises from many family members and family friends to the loved ones that have taken another step ahead by enrolling into college, and enhancing their leadership skills to become well renowned officers of the military. I will be taking this same road of success, but pushing it another level by applying for the NROTC, which will train my mind and body to guide others when I am commissioned into the Marine Corps.…

The reason why I chose to major in Counseling Psychology is because I think it fits my skills in listening and talking with people along with a desire to help and see improvement in people’s lives. My desire to help others find this happiness and self-satisfaction within themselves stems from a satisfaction in uncovering and giving back to the patient the greatness within themselves that I know is always there. I want to join the Air Force after college because I’ve always wanted to protect my country and those I love. This desire to enter the military is because I come from a long line of veterans, police, and other civil servants, along with this the military has always seemed a good way to gain leadership skills and to gain a better appreciation for what my country provides. I also want to serve because if I decide to become a full-time counseling psychologist a military background would make it easier to relate to the experiences of patients who are veterans. Also, a degree in Psychology would allow me to assist and better understand those who would be under my command and reinforce a greater sense of unity with my fellow service…
