Why Is Basketball Better Than Golf
Basketball and golf are two very different sports. The one major reason how they are different is because basketball is considered as a team sport while golf is more of an individual sport. There are advantages to playing just a team sports or an individual sport. Playing on either a team or individual sports has its pros and cons. In team sports winning and losing depends on many variables. It does not matter which team as the better player, most of the time, towards the end of the game the outcome depends which team worked better together, with a few exceptions. The average size of a basketball team is 12 players, and the best player on that team might be having their worst game ever that doesn’t matter because they have 11 other teammates that could step up and play a great game. That the beauty in playing on a team you have other people to rely on, not just yourself. Golf is a game where you can only depend on yourself to either win or lose, you can’t hide behind teammates. The pros of playing an individual sport is that you do not have to rely on anyone but yourself. Also no outside source can keep you from preforming like a coach or a referee. If …show more content…
For example, playing a team sport is you learn how to deal with people and deal with people you may not even get along with. This is a great tool to have later on in life, when having a job and having to work with an employee you may not get along with. Then your teammates becomes some of your best friends/family. Team sports teaches you people skills and how to build relationships. On the other hand golf you also gain communication skills. Every time you’re in a tournament you’re paired with another person and it’s your job to keep up with their score to make sure they do not cheat. You don’t have the privilege of making friendships in golf like you would by playing on a team

A matter of opinion has separated a variety of sports enthusiasts apart, due to the ongoing debate of whether golf is a sport or simply a skill. Famed golfer Arnold Palmer declared, “Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening – and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented. (ThinkQuest.com)” These words state what every athlete experiences and feels when he/she is turning a double play, making the game winning three point shot, or throwing a hail mary pass for a touchdown. Golfers are athletes too, they train for that big moment just like any other athlete, but they do it individually and gain the glory for themselves. Golf has increasingly become known not as a sport, but as a skill, which is a huge misconception that I intend to set the facts straight. The definition of a sport is narrowly defined, and to one its own opinion, but Golf is a competition just like every other sport, winning is its pinnacle. Golf requires the number one characteristic that is vital to all sports – hand-eye coordination. These men and women use their athletic ability to reach the top of their game. Golf takes sports to a different level and is played on its own terms.…

Of all the games ever invented by man, golf, in my opinion, is by far the greatest. Golf is different than other games. Golf challenges the mind, body, and soul. Golf is not a game that is meant to be played against other people or even against the course, it is a game that challenges the individual. It forces a person to make decisions that can lead to a feeling of great accomplishment or to a feeling of hopelessness and despair. To the average person golf my be just a game, but to millions of golfers worldwide, it is more than just a game, it is a way of life. It is something that is lived and breathed, it is royal and ancient, and it is the greatest game ever invented.…

The biggest comparison between golf and track is that they are both more of an individual sport. Although you are on a team, the person you depend on is yourself. In golf, you complete the course in a solo fashion, with only a small amount of other individuals from other teams playing against you. While performing high jump, long jump, and triple jump, you are competing by yourself with a few other individuals from other teams, just like golf. In other sports such as basketball and volleyball, you need a whole team playing at the same time to perform the sport. Another major similarity is that both of these…
