Kasigi told Mrs. Donnelly that ever since the stunt with the school bus the kids just flocked to him. He gave the examples of Cap putting together a tie dye clinic with the art teacher and said “you wouldn’t believe the turnout!” He went on to say that it wasn’t the least of it. He explained how Cap picked up a guitar in the music room a strummed a few old Beatles tunes, and he’s got 20 people singing along, he was also running a martial arts class on the front lawn, he had got some kids working on the Halloween dance and he even got a few meditators. One character’s feelings that changed towards Cap changed was Hugh Winkleman. Hugh saw cap as a “kindred spirit “ in the beginning of the book but as Cap became popular and got caught up in how good it felt to be popular Hugh was hurt by Cap’s lack of sensitivity toward him, who was till very unpopular. This was shown in the book when Cap says “I couldn’t have imagined how good it feels when so many people like you” and Hugh “recoiled as if he slapped him” and felt like that was the “ultimate insult”. Hugh felt that for Cap to say that to him was “beyond cruel”. When Naomi kissed Cap in return for the money, Hugh “glowered at him through eyes that were barely slits”. The changes in Capricorn’s character will make life easier for him to deal with things in the real world living outside of Garland Farm. Since in the end Capricorn and Rain are rich from selling Garland Farms, his basic beliefs will help to guide him but his new street smarts will help him to survive the outside
