To live honestly, it keeps our hearts pure. If we lie, our minds will be full of uncertainty or doubt and all we can think about is that lie, when telling the truth would rid all of that. We know we are doing the right things when we are being honest, with ourselves and to others. Another value that is very important to me would be appreciation.
It feels so good to be appreciated for what you do for people, I don’t think anyone could argue with me there. But a little appreciation goes a long way. Just taking a moment to say a simple “thank you” whether it be your server at a restaurant or to your parents for everything they do for you. I started appreciating things more when someone I called a very close friend didn’t appreciate the things I did. It didn’t make me want to become a bitter person instead it made me want to become a better person and made me appreciate the little and the big things people did for me. It changed me into the person I am today, and I couldn’t be more thankful for that experience I had to go through even though it meant losing a friend. So next time make it a goal to say thank you to someone just for something small, because it could turn their day
around. One of the last values I listed would be integrity. It ties into all the values I have and integrity means doing the right thing in the most reliable way. It’s how we react and respond to the things that happen to us, it’s not measured by what happens to us. A lot of situations have occurred in my life that I could have said something that could have made me a totally different person than I am today, but because I did the right thing and I reacted with peace I am a much better person because of it. I am continuing to learn and focus on the better things that will get me farther in life and integrity is a value that will get me farther than I can even imagine.
