Many people argue whether Columbus is a hero or a villain. For many people including me, Christopher Columbus is more of a villain than a hero. Christopher Columbus left Europe in voyage to find India. Christophe Columbus was a lost navigator, he believed he had reached India but he actually reached the Bahamas which is at Central America. Upon arrival to the shore, Christopher Columbus encountered the natives. When the natives showed hospitality to the Europeans, Columbus realized that the natives would do anything he wanted including surrendering their land. Christopher Columbus found out that there were gold in the land, he then took the natives as slaves, forcing them to work at a gold mines. A lot of native died in the mines or were killed by the Europeans. Christopher Columbus introduced Christianity to the natives, but none of the natives were converted because Christianity is against slavery. Columbus also introduced sex slavery, the native women were sold as sexual servants to the Europeans. Many women died of exhaustion and many committed suicide. Lastly Christopher Columbus introduced imperialism, he wanted the natives to pay taxes. As a result the native grew poor, many were dying due to poverty.
