Why Is Hector Better Than Achilles

We read The Iliad in class. I enjoyed the book, because during my freshman year of High School we read The Odyssey. In The Odyssey, I felt like they left us hanging. So we finally finished the story. In the Iliad, there are two types of warriors, Hector, and Achilles. I think Hector is more essential than Achilles. Hector is more essential because he is the son of King Priam and the Queen Hecuba. He is also the most essential soldier in the Trojan Army. He lets his soldiers know that “he is there for them”. He fights hard, he is strong, and he is very caring. Achilles on the other hand is least essential compared to Hector, because Achilles acts very unprofessional. For example, Agamemnon steals the girl as his own personal reward, and Achilles
does nothing. On the positive side, Achilles was a Greek hero of the Trojan War. But I still believe he is unessential.
Hector is my favorite character, because Achilles proves himself as very weak, and Hector proves himself as extremely essential. Achilles Hides in the horse and commands it, while Hector is out fighting. Hector has a “Chain of Command”, because he will be backed up by his parents who are the Kings, and Queens of Hecuba. But unfortunately Achilles was a greek hero of the Trojan war and the Warrior of Homer’s Iliad. As has been noted, I admire Hector the most. Hector is strong, brave, willing, and essential, unlike Achilles. Hector was strong enough to kill Achilles. My conclusion is that Hector is my favorite character.
