This upcoming year will be the best and worst time s of your high school experience. There will be times when you can’t wait to get to school to show off your new outfit or to attend homecoming week. Don’t be late to class because you couldn’t decide what to wear with your fresh outfit or what accessories will match your dress. No this is not the time to slack off now is not the time to conduct the infamous virus known as senioritis. Now is the time to focus on your studies, guide your way through the path to graduation, and if you decide start figuring out what college you would like to attend if you haven’t decided already. To the prospective college students now is definitely not the time to get behind on your studies but to get a study plan started. Trust me it will be a necessity. I know there will be times where you feel like giving up and wanting to quit. I’ve been there, I’ve been up all night typing papers and having to get up at the crack of dawn the next morning for class. I’ve been beaten up in practice and having to come home to chores, siblings, and homework. I had the job where you had to work on weekends and homework was due Mondays instead of Wednesdays. I never said the road to graduation was easy but I promise it will be worth it, and after that road ends many more roads will begin to form. It’s always wise to plan your next destination and whether it may

High school: a major transition in many teen’s lives that poses some confusing, yet important, questions. Who am I? Where do I belong? What am I going to do with my life? I was caught up in all of these questions, and quite frankly, life didn’t seem so simple or easy anymore. I needed answers, and I needed them quickly.…

Growing up we all looked forward to starting high school, but how many of us enjoyed every bit of it? High school was a moment that I looked forward to; thoughts of doing what I finally wanted to flood my mind. In June 2008, I received my GSAT result and was delighted when I saw that I passed for the William Knibb Memorial High School; although a bit disappointed because it wasn’t on my top five list. High school was not everything that I expected. In a few days, I met a few nice people. The first week of school was amazing, but after a few weeks things started getting intense. High school; however, was no bed of roses, especially when it came onto the subjects, reports, and school rules.…

Not having, a High School Diploma will affect our lives, much so, that it will be harder to get decent paying job, and your self-esteem in most cases will be very low. It’s important to graduate, so that not only, to have a successful life, but to be a role model, for the people younger than you. The dropout rate is still high in 2012. I know for a fact that, the lowering paying jobs, is what is offered to a high school dropout, and promotions yiou were never receive, because you do not have and credentials. How hard breaking is this, it’s very hard breaking, when you cannot support yourself or a family adequately, because of lack of education.…

They have been trapped in high school for almost four years now. They trudge through every day, not paying much attention to the time that is flying by. It hasn’t occurred to them how soon they will be out of the prison called high school…until now. Most, if not all, seniors catch a case of senioritis early on in their senior year. Once they have caught senioritis, there is little hope that they will recover, at least not until they receive their high school diploma. Upon catching senioritis, students no longer find joy in the day to day attending of classes. The seniors begin to realize that half of the classes that they are taking won’t matter in the long run of their career ambitions. The awe and terror of what high school was before they started now starts to crumble at the foundation. There are a few exceptions to the contraction of this horrid disease, however. Seniors who get involved come to appreciate the fact that they will no longer be able to attend high school anymore, so they want to make their last year the very best.…

Bursting through the front doors of the school I stride out into the summer sun. The last day of school is cloudless and the sun shines brightly, warming my face and long chestnut hair blowing in the slight summer breeze. The breeze is chilly and the weather isn’t quite hot enough to feel like a real summer but that’s Seattle for you. Turning my new IPod to one of my favorite songs I start toward home, excited. For this is not just any last day of school, this is the last day of my junior year of high school. I am now officially, a senior. I had been dreaming about this summer for so long and I am determined to make it the best one of my life. I start sprinting home grinning till it hurts with Rabbit’s song “It’s Love” blaring…

High school was my time to stop fooling around. The first day of high school, I awoke to the aroma of coffee brewing on the stove. As I get ready to head out my sister approached me, and told me “Education is the key that opens the door many possibilities you can be and do in your near future” I was so nervous the sweat started dripping from my palms, and I suddenly felt 15 degrees hotter. I was nervous, I knew this is the time to get serious. Immediately a thought came across “ how well I do these four years can affect my entire life”. At first high school might look like a time to have fun and have no worries, which was my initial thought. Later on you start to realize that you need work hard. I thought “How would my future look? I don’t want to end up hopelessly. I want to make something of myself. Sometimes it can be hard though. I just have to work through the pain. At this point it’s make it or break it, success is my only…

Why do I need a post high school education when I already have a high school diploma? This is a question that I heard many people ask and to answer their question, a high school diploma is not always enough unless you want to work in a fast food restaurant all your life. There are many reasons why a high school education is so important however, I will only discuss three that I think are the most important. My three reasons are: better jobs, more education, and more opportunities to do anything you like.…

My advice to you is to not goof off and horse around in class, because if you do you will most likely regret it later on and realize that if you would have paid more attention during class and turned in all your work on time high school would be easier. I can tell you that from experience because now it’s really difficult for me to work from all the procrastinating that I have built up and has become a habit. I have now formed a habit of doing my work and setting reminders for myself to do my homework that I have at home and read ahead to be ahead of class so I can keep up and be more recommendable for my college letter of recommendation.…

Middle School isn’t over; the end is here at last. The parts of my life that seemed never ending are gone for good. I thought I could not wait until high school, but now I wish that it wasn’t here so soon, ending my year as an eight grader. I feel lost as my eight grade year comes to a close. The anticipation I once felt about high school has been replaced with not only fear but also the never ending question of what to expect when I get there.…

Hello, I am so honored to speak in front of all the parents, staff and my fellow students today. Wow guys we made it! These past 3 years have been full of so many memories that I know we’ll never forget. Think all the way back to 6th grade we were always the littlest ones and I remember feeling like a fish out of water. We were terrified of getting lost or being late for class, but excited to have a locker to decorate and change classes each period. It doesn’t seem like that was over 2 years ago at all. We came back in 7th grade, much more confident than the year before. We looked down to the new 6th graders, asking "Were we really that short just last year?" And by the end of 7th grade I was shocked that I was officially an 8th grader. 8th grade is defiantly my favorite year. I feel like I have everything under control. But next year is full of changes. We'll have free periods, more homework, electives, and an open campus. The new choices also bring new responsibilities that test us in figuring out how we grow from kids to adults. As we say goodbye on the last day we sit together as Balboa students, we reflect on what has happened the past 3 years, but also look forward to what is coming up in the next 4 years. My advice to future 8th graders is to keep up with your school work and try your absolute best and make lots of good, loyal friends that don’t get you in the bad kind of crowd. And most importantly, have fun! This is the last year you will be the oldest in the school for another 4 years, so enjoy it! I’d like to finish this speech off with this quote : A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.-Ayn Rand…

As a strongly opinionated teenager attending High School in the early 2000’s, I've learned not everything will go as planned. Having to take 6 classes a day, 5 days a week, school work and especially specific classes can become more and more of a hassle. If schools world wide would offer a new class to every kids' schedule i'd suggest that it would be called “ Steps of life”. The name of the class describes the content you would be learning, and these would be a lot of the things you experience growing up which the typical teenager would not be familiar with. Having this as a part of the mandatory everyday schedule would give kids a more detailed idea of the reasons abilities you take on once you become a adult.…
