The renal system is also known as the urinary system. It consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and the urethra. The function of the renal system is to remove liquid waste from the blood and keep salts and other substances in the blood. The kidneys remove urea from blood by filtering. Besides filtering and eliminating wastes, the system also maintains homeostasis of water, ions, pH, acid and blood pressure. The renal system is a major homeostatic system because it maintains electrolyte balance, acid-base, and fluid balance; excrete nitrogenous wastes.…

We have two kidneys of which are bean shaped and dark red in colour. The ureter and renal vein both emerge from the kidney and the renal artery enters the kidney at the hilum. There is a capsule of membrane surrounding the kidney and each is topped by the conical adrenal gland. These are surrounded by adipose tissue. Kidneys are vital in our survival and have a variety of functions that make them so important. They help regulate the amount of water in our body and balance the concentration of mineral ions in our blood. They produce urine which contains waste products, excess mineral ions and excess water. Waste is stored in the bladder before being removed as urine. It keeps useful substances such as glucose and protein. Each day 180 litre of water are filtered through our kidneys however only 1.5 litres of this is passed as urine.…

The job of a kidney is to filter the blood and get rid of waste products; it also balances levels of electrolyte in the body, it controlling blood pressure, and stimulates the production of red blood cells. Your kidneys filter wastes and excess fluids from your blood, which then exit your body in your urine. When the kidney fails, these things are not done efficiently and so therefore can cause serious harm to your body. Human health has been misdiagnosed and misunderstood for centuries "until the evolution of the medical field in the late 1800s which led to a rise in the average life expectancy from thirty-six to a whopping seventy-eight"1. Then specialists started to identify the structure and the function of each organ. That’s when they found how some organs are important that the human body cannot work properly without them, such as heart, kidneys and lungs. As well as others that can be cut off or removed and it will not need special long term treatment ,nor will it make a huge difference, for example, cutting off half the stomach or removing the spleen entirely. The kidney is one of those essential organs due to how fundamental it is. To fully understand kidney failure, a summary about the organ is obligatory as well as its complete definition and diagnosis.…

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention list Nephritis, Nephrotic Syndrome, and Nephrosis as number nine in the top ten leading causes of death among Hispanic Americans (Hispanic or Latino Populations, 2015). Each of these conditions is a type of kidney disease in which the kidneys cannot effectively filter wastes from the blood. Chronic Kidney Disease, or CKD, can lead to many severe health problems. Because the kidneys filter the blood, CKD can cause the body to retain fluid that can lead to swelling, high blood pressure, or fluid in the lungs (National Chronic Kidney Disease Fact Sheet 2014, 2014). CKD can also cause potassium levels to rise to dangerous levels which inhibit the beating of the heart which can lead to death (National Chronic Kidney Disease Fact Sheet 2014, 2014). The kidneys are vital organs that contribute to keeping many different organs in your body in proper working order.…

The Kidney is one of the most important organs in the human body. Its primary function is the removal of waste & toxins from the blood stream. So if the kidney stopped working correctly and is no longer able to properly function that would lead to serious problems. Blood is no longer being cleaned. The waste and the toxins aren’t being removed. Instead it’s all building up in the blood stream causing serious damage and problems like anemia, hypertension, weak bones, nerve damage and possibly death. This is what happens to people who suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease aka CKD. Chronic Kidney Disease disorders are among the top ten leading causes of death in the United States. From 2010-2011 it was estimated that almost 50,000 people died form some form of severe kidney disease or kidney failure. There are almost 4 million people diagnosed with CKD in the U.S. totaling almost 2% of the entire population. Chronic Kidney Disease is not a disease that can be cured with the exception of a kidney transplant, but rather one that can be treated; and a quality of life can be sustained if the afflicted person makes the necessary commitments and life style changes. If not then kidney disease can turn into full blown kidney failure.…

When thinking about the question (can music affect the listener?) many thoughts and notions come to my mind that can either refute or agree with this purposed question, but the opinion that I will explain in detail with clear and concise evidence within the body of this paper is that music does in fact affect the listener in many positive ways. People tend to listen to a genre/style of music based upon his/her mood or feelings at that very point and time, for example if I were to listen to a song from the genre of rap or R&B I would become in a more upbeat, happy mood if I already wasn’t feeling that way; but if I was listening to a Punk Rock or Country song I would probably be or become in an angry/depressed mood. My notions that music does in fact affect the listeners’ mood/feelings will be explained with my own examples of 2 songs that have a major affect on my mood as well as the ideas presented by Aristotle in relation to that of music and its purposes/forms. I feel that Aristotle brings up very important ideas that go along with my thoughts on the strong affect that music does have on a listeners’ mood and/or state of mind which I will go into great detail in the preceding paragraphs of this reflective paper. So for the first portion of my paper I will discuss the 2 examples of songs that I strongly feel affect my personal mood/ state of mind when I hear and closely listen to beat/tempo that are included in the particular genre/style of these 2 particular songs.…
