To Kill a Mockingbird Essay

Many athletes are over emphasized as the greatest, such as Kobe Bryant, of the L.A. Lakers. Though he is a great individual basketball player and arguably one of the best in the game, were would he be without the likes of Shaq, Lamar Odom,
Andrew Bynum, and Pao Gasol. I could assure you he wouldn’t be on the way to another
NBA championship opportunity. Well the fact of having a supporting cast applies to sports as well as the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. While the major characters dominate the story they would not have developed without minor characters.

In To Kill a Mockingbird Harper Lee uses Mrs. Merriweather in a very pivotal way as she shows that though Jem and Scout live in a very racist southern city that they believe in what they belive is right not what others think. Mrs.Merriweather a very racist and yet a practicing

The first example we get of Mrs. Merriweather get is when she says “Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me” it shows that she is religious and close to her faith. Also we see her true colors and the racist side of her when she says, “living in a jungle with nobody but J. Grimes Everett”, “not a white person will go there but that saintly j grimes Everett”. This shows that Miss merriweather is against anything to do with blacks and that if a white person befriends a black she wont talk to them we see this with the she acts about Atticus defending a black man. Lastly is the final quality of miss merriweather which is hypocrisy the way Harper Lee shows miss Merriweathers hypocrisy is through a remark were she was talking in that

The three names that pop out to me are Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo and Brandon Jennings are on one to two year contracts and could be on the block around deadline time. Rose and Jennings are playing to prove their worth in the league and may be interested in a winning situation with Los Angeles. Rondo would be the most compelling only because of the strong relationship and respect he has for his former coach with the Boston Celtics Doc Rivers. The reunion between the coach and player champions could be what Rondo needs to stay happy and productive.…

To Kill a Mockingbird was written to show the Great Depression in the southern United States and what life was like during these times. Maycomb, Alabama is a little town where each person knows who you are, your class, and race. In Maycomb, race was a huge issue. Tom Robinson, a black man, was accused of raping and beating Mayella Ewell, a poor white girl. However, Atticus Finch, a white man, who was representing Tom proved to the court and town Tom did not rape or beat Mayella, but Tom did not win the case due to his race. Mayella was one of the poorest people in Maycomb and part of the lower class. For this reason, I do believe that Mayella is powerful due to her class, race, and gender.…

His mentality for greatness is off the charts and his passion for excellence is the passion that every player should have in the game or in any matter for that case. In his career, Kobe has an average of 83.8 percent from the free throw line, ahead of Jordan, and also a 34.1 percentage from beyond the three point line, which is also better than Michael Jordan's percentage (Drake Oz). A lot of people look at MVP awards and national championships to decide who is the best and things like that. Michael has 5 MVP titles while Kobe only has one, but they are overrated and misleading (Drake Oz). Kobe has had much better seasons than a lot of former winners of the MVP award. Example, in 2006, Steve Nash won the MVP of the league. Nash had a great year, but Kobe put up monstrous numbers and had a fantastic year with the Lakers. You cannot base the potential of greatness off of awards. Yes, they help your confidence and your reputation as a player in the league, but they do not define your greatness and ability that you may have to show. Michael has also won 6 championships and Kobe is only at five, but Kobe is most definitely not done playing either. The age-old argument against Kobe Bryant used to be that "he only won three titles because of Shaq. Well, fast forward to 2010, and Bryant has more titles (five) than Shaq (four) and was the star of those two teams while Shaq played second fiddle to Dwyane Wade. Not saying Bryant would have won all…
