According to the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy the value of perseverance means constancy in virtue and maintain consistency to death.
But beyond that I think this definition refers to two different but related attitudes and applicable to all people. The first is the ongoing effort in a task, the work done daily to get the goal we have set in mind. The second is the ability to overcome failure and get back on track as many times as necessary to see that actions render the result we expect.
