In Call of the Wild, Buck has to persevere through tough times. Even though he was taken away, and shown his place in the wild. For example Buck was beaten to a senseless pulp by a club while the man was trying to get him to cooperate to his new lifestyle as a sled dog. In the end he was shown his place by natural selection. when he was trudging through the Yukon, he was starving and tired. In the long run, Buck had to learn to fight for his food. Also he learned to be tired, at one point he wanted to drop dead but he adapted and pushed through the pain. closing In contrast to Buck, my dad had to persevere through Ranger school, besides the lack of food, sleep, and energy.
He had to go through the swamps of Florida, and the Mountains of Georgia through each phase in Ranger school. His buddies and him helped each other get through it. There were crazy, dirty people all over the place and he had enough sense to stay away from that. Getting through there, he learned his mental and physical barriers. He was ripped and incredibly smart so that helped him get through Ranger School. The instructors were hardcore they would push you to your limit. In the end he ended up looking at life a bit differently than before. He learned to pay attention to his surroundings. He learned to have respect for his elders. The impact of it was he learned how to persevere and how it affected him in later
life.
While my dad and Buck had different experiences with perseverance, they both endured the pain and got through it. Being starving and tired impacted their experiences in their later life. It made my dad more sympathetic of people who don’t have enough food. Buck learned to live off very little energy. As they learned their place they got through that final barrier. The final barrier was the same for both of them in the way that both of them got where they wanted to be. As my dad got out of the army he kept the traits that he acquired in the military. When Buck was set free he remembered how to live, how to persevere in the wild. In other words they both worked for something and achieved it. Work, that’s what they did to get to the rank they finished with. These skills applied later in life for both of them. Buck achieved something much different than my dad did.
Getting through a tough time can be challenging, it requires much perseverance. My dad and Buck are similar in many ways, they both persevered through tough times. While my dad and Buck are very much the same, they are different in the way they had to persevere. Overall I believe that perseverance is a thing that everybody has to go through at one point in their life. My dad had to go through Ranger school to get to the Military and Buck had to outlast the cold, starvation, and death.
