Why Is Simon Jeruchim More Important Than The Holocaust

Simon Jeruchim In the history of the world there are very few events that are more horrific than the Holocaust. The Holocaust started when Adolf Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany in 1933. The Holocaust means the destruction or slaughter of people on a mass scale. During this time, it was the Jews. Simon Jeruchim was a Jew during this time, and he was a Holocaust survivor. (Rice, Earle p.38-51) The Nuremberg law was created in 1935. The law said that the German Jews were no longer citizens of Germany. Anybody who was Jewish, part Jewish, or Aryan weren’t citizens anymore. The Jewish people were devastated because that’s where their homes were. In November 9 and 10 ,1938, 7,500 shops got looted and lots of windows were broken in. One hundred nineteen Jewish synagogues were set on fire, 20,000 Jews arrested, and 36 Jews were killed. In August 1941, the concentration camp, Aktion T4, gassed 70,273 people to death. (Rice, Earle p. 38-51)
Simon’s dad was a Jewish watchmaker. It was a good paying job. He mostly made gold or silver watches. The mother was mostly a stay-at-home mom. Back then the mothers didn't work in business or anything like that. They kept the house clean and took care of their kids. Simon had two siblings. Simon’s sister was a year older than him. Simon and Alice’s parents took the to Normandy to hide them. They spent two years there. His parents kept their little brother with them. Simon and Alice got retrieved by their father from Normandy on December 24, 1937. Simon’s father was taken again by the German soldiers. Simon’s parents got arrested. After his parents died, Simon was taught by a school master how to write and read. He was staying with a family relative that were farmers. His school master also taught him art.
