Today’s slavery is ten times more different than the slavery from the past. In the past slavery was defined as owing someone and claiming them as your property. The slaves were provided with housing, food, and health care. Like this, the slaves could live for a long time and serve their owners making quality products. But today’s slavery is different. Due to the increase in population, slavery has grown. The world’s population has tripled in fifty years, causing a huge group of people to be poor and vulnerable to attacks from slave traders. The changing economy also causes slavery to expand. High end corporations usually do not want to pay wages, and unknowingly support unpaid labor, as a result, letting the company profit.
