The First Amendment
“The First Amendment is the freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly , and petition. This may be the most revered of the Amendment's. The First Amendment protects our rights to say and write out opinions, worship how we please, assemble together peacefully, and petition our government, if we feel the need.” In my opinion, The First Amendment plays a big part in our country. The First Amendment supports and backs up the unique freedom everyone is supposed to have. I think that it’s a critical part to being a “free citizen” in the United States. Take religion for example, religion is many people’s way of life. Religion is a way to talk to their g-d, make decisions off of g-d, and most, if not all actions are

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects five fundamental freedoms: religion, speech, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. These freedoms collectively form the bedrock of individual liberty, creating an environment where citizens can express themselves, participate in civic life, and hold their government accountable. Freedom of religion ensures that individuals have the right to practice their faith or choose not to, without interference from the government. Freedom of speech guarantees the right to express opinions and ideas, even those that may be unpopular or controversial; this freedom extends beyond mere verbal expression to encompass artistic, symbolic, and symbolic…

The First Amendment is part of the Bill of Rights, which is in the United States Constitution. The First Amendment basically states that the government may not interfere with our freedom of speech and the press, the right to a peaceful assembly, and the right to petition the government for redress of grievances (Bond and Smith, Pg. 132). With this Amendment it gives and protects our vocals as individuals and as a nation, so is there any backlash this brings? What good comes from this?…

The First Amendment guarantees every American’s right to the free exchange of ideas, beliefs, and political debate. The First Amendment of the Constitution states that "Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances" (National Archives and Records Administration 2001). We have the right of freedom of speech and by definition, this means that we have “the right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint” (Dictionary). This law is stated in the Bill of Rights and has been around since 1971. It is one of the oldest and most important amendments we adopted because as American people we have a…

The First Amendment is also the most important to the maintenance of a democratic government. It states that “Guarantees freedom of religion, speech, and press right to assemble peacefully; and the right to petition the government.” We know that America’s society today is maintained by freedom, equality, justice, and the rule of law. Freedom of religion is also an important reason why many immigrants yearn for the United States. Here, no matter what ethnic group you belong to, regardless of your religious beliefs, you can enjoy the protected power.…

I think the most important Amendment of all time would be the first Amendment. This freedom of religion, speech, assembly, and politics allows our country to be unique and protects our rights as American citizens. There are many current day issues that are driven by the first amendment. My first example I would like to talk about would be the anti-war movement. The first amendment allows we the people to protest and voice our opinions. Cindy Sheehan pleads with Bush for a meeting and accuses him of lying to the American people about Iraq's development of weapons of mass destruction and its connection to al Qaeda. The first amendment protects her rights to protest and voice her opinion and not be punished for speaking her mind.…

I would have to go with the first amendment, however, I believe there are a few others that I mentioned that are equally important. The first amendment allows people voices to be heard when done in the correct manner. I love the fact that here in America we have the right to worship whatever religion we choose to believe in, protest acts that we may disagree on peacefully, and speak our minds reasonably. I enjoy this amendment for the simple reason that is shows you how powerful people are when they decide to work together. There are a total of five freedoms that this amendment alone addresses. They are as listed, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom to assemble peacefully, freedom of religion and the freedom to petition government…

The first amendment gives the right for every American to speak and think freely. It gives the American citizens a freedom of expression which is important in the educators and the students. In the education environment the first amendment allows students and educators to use or exercise their judgment and create learning environments that will be beneficial to the students and the school as a whole. In public schools the first Amendment is slightly changed, although it does not mean public schools don’t have first amendment rights, it means that since public schools are educational settings it must cover a broad range of subjects. The right of free speech is included in ways that does not interfere with the public schools goals.…

I picked the 1st Amendment, I know it seemed I picked the first because it was first but I read through all the amendments and I could find one I felt so strongly about. This amendment tells me I have the right to say what I want, practice what religion I want, and print what I want. This law is what I think separated us from Great Britain, it tells us the government cant tell me to be Catholic like Britain. Also this Amendment allows me to say my government is wrong and stand up for myself. Then the reason this amendment is so important to me is because it sets the ground for freedom.…

The First Amendment states “ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.“ This amendment prohibits the government from making a national religion as well as protecting those who practice any religion from Christianity to Judaism. This amendment was written on June 7, 1789 and ratified December 15, 1791. James Madison, include an attribute said “ The civil rights of none shall be abridged on account of religious belief or worship, nor shall any national religion be established, nor shall the full and equal rights of conscience be in any manner, or on any pretence, infringed.'' Freedom of Religion was important to our Founding Fathers. In Britain there was a lot of Religious Persecution in the 19th century. Many people were executed for practicing a religion other than Protestant. Clearly our founding fathers knew that something was wrong with that. Why should someone be killed for practicing a religion other than the one you personally believe…

Many at times people protest due to how insecure, and how they feel hurt towards certain issues. However, I do not think it is right for people to intentionally carry out an unlawful act to deliberately disturb the peace of others. The First Amendment guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and petition their government, but not in the form of a riot. The decision taken by the group of protest is terrifying and unspeakable. Even though they were exercising their first amendment right, their actions were unjustifiable. Many Americans are deeply connected with the United state Flag because it is the representation of their freedom, rights, and liberties. Many people have died for it, so I felt their actions dishonored the sacrifices…

The First Amendment of the US Constitution allows for a US citizen to have freedom of speech. This is an inalienable right that allows us to express our ideas and opinions and to communicate with each other. Some people use this amendment to justify something wrong that they did. They think that they can do or say anything that they want without being punished because they’re still following the law. If a person says something to harm or insult someone then there should be a limit placed under the freedom of speech and they should not be protected under the US Court.…
